l work colleagues on the topic of Adult Children of Alcoholics and Co-depency. An example of a spontaneous improvisation - the song "As long as he needs me" from the musical film "Oliver". The song is sung by Nancy, girlfriends of Bill Sykes who is a villain in the film - not only does he mostly ignore her but eventually murders her. I feel this action ties in with the enormous amount of gender-based violence (GBV) and femicide in South African society

I was raised by a mom who never discarded anything if she could help it.

She was into reduce, recycle and repurpose long before it became a buzzword.

Times have changed, and I now help people especially seniors with decluttering their space.

My social work skills, empathic listening, going at the client's pace, confidentiality and respect for the dignity and worth of every
individual among others, are helpful for listening to seniors' stories.

I've been in the position of having to downsize my space not once but twice - the last time from a three-bedroomed house to a
one-bedroom cottage.

I'm very aware that decluttering isn't simply about reducing possessions, it's also about emotions and questions whether to donate, sell or discard those possessions.

As a result, I've added a new service, 'Decluttering4You', to the services I already offer in my social work practice.

Our job as mental health professionals is to help them realise that and take it from there!

I help Families of Alcoholics, People with Bipolar Mood Disorder and Stroke Survivors with individual, couple and family counselling.

I do short-term, solution-focused, structured counselling using easy-to-remember questionnaires
