The Johannesburg Parent and Child Counselling Centre (JPCCC) is a counselling, training and development agency which provides short or long term therapy for adolescents, families, adults and couples and play therapy for children. Trauma, bereavement and crisis counselling are also offered and counselling is undertaken in numerous schools on a weekly basis in order to identify young people's problems early on and intervene where necessary. We provide consulting, training and mentoring for schools and other organisations and educational, psychological and career assessments are undertaken for children and youth. The Centre works with parents/caregivers and families in the community to strengthen their ability to care for their children and provides psycho-social support and development projects for families in difficult circumstances by providing them with opportunities to mobilise themselves to reach their full potential.

On International Literacy Day, we recognise that every learner’s journey is different.

When children experience emotional distress or barriers to learning, the right support can help identify what may be standing in their way. JPCCC provides school counselling as well as psycho-educational and school readiness assessments to help children and families better understand their needs.

Today 7 officials from City of Joburg City Power arrived at the Children's Memorial Institute with 2 police officers to switch off our electricity 😢 We are not entirely sure why these measures were necessary when we are merely a group of 22 caring NGOs and a special needs school, but we now have no electricity again!! Sadly as we are NOT the account holders, we have no way to resolve this issue. Only the Gauteng Health Department can solve this challenge by paying the outstanding R44million they owe the City for their Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital Laundry. We would be interested to understand how the 5 hospitals and 13 clinics that this laundry services will operate without clean laundry, bedding, scrubs etc? We will let you know if anything changes. In the meantime, spare a thought for the over 2000 children who visit our campus DAILY for education, food, therapy and support 💙

Today is a reminder that generosity, in any form, can have a lasting impact. 💙

JPCCC works within schools to provide learners with access to counselling and emotional support, while also involving parents, caregivers and teachers where needed.

By supporting Minds Matter: School Support Services, you can help us continue this important work and reach more young people where support is needed.
