Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital today hosted delegates from Paarl Hospital (Western Cape) and Universitas Hospital (Free State) as part of the Inter-Provincial Hospital Twinning Initiative.
The programme began with a welcome and institutional overview delivered by Hospital CEO, Mr Mkhululi Ntintelo. This was followed by a structured walkabout, peer-to-peer discussions, and focused breakaway sessions. Together, these engagements created meaningful opportunities for delegates to exchange experiences, share practical solutions, and explore innovative approaches to hospital governance, leadership, organisational culture, and service delivery.
Endorsed by the National Health Council, the Twinning Initiative is designed to strengthen decentralised governance, accountability, and management capability across provinces. Rather than replicating a single model of care, it encourages hospitals to learn from one another, adapt successful practices to their own contexts, and cultivate sustainable partnerships that enhance healthcare services.
By fostering knowledge-sharing and building stronger relationships between institutions, the initiative contributes to a more capable, accountable, and responsive public health system that serves all South Africans.
