Gender-based violence is not someone else’s problem. It affects our homes, our workplaces, our communities and the people we love.

Abuse is not always visible. It can be physical, sexual, emotional, financial or controlling. It can begin quietly and escalate over time. Recognising the signs, speaking up safely, supporting survivors and knowing where to find help can save lives.

Through our 2026 Gender-Based Violence Campaign, MEDIMAGZA is using its platform to keep this conversation visible, accessible and impossible to ignore.

We will not normalise fear.
We will not excuse abuse.
We will not remain silent.

Believe survivors. Protect the vulnerable. Teach consent. Challenge harmful behaviour. Speak up when it is safe to do so.

South Africa, enough is enough.

This Eyecare Awareness Month, MEDIMAGZA is putting the focus on something many of us take for granted every single day — our vision.

Good eye health isn’t only about whether you can see clearly. Regular eye examinations can help identify changes in your vision and detect potential eye-health concerns early — sometimes before you’ve noticed any obvious symptoms.

Today, we honour far more than strength.

We honour the women who lead, nurture, heal, teach, build, create, protect, challenge, discover and continue to shape this country — often while carrying responsibilities the world never fully sees.

South African women have never simply occupied a place in our history. They have changed its direction.

From the women whose courage helped define our democracy, to the women breaking barriers in hospitals, boardrooms, universities, communities, businesses and homes today, your contribution cannot be reduced to a single celebration or a single day.

At MEDIMAGZA, we are especially privileged to witness the brilliance of women across healthcare — clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, researchers, allied health professionals, academics, caregivers, administrators, innovators and leaders whose knowledge and compassion touch lives every day.
