My Journey with Breast Cancer. 🩷
To stay positive and trust in the Lord is some of the best advice I can give on the bad-news days. Take a deep breath, have a cup of tea, and try to get as much information as possible. Consider all the options available to you before making any decisions. This experience is truly life-changing.
I was diagnosed with cancer in my left breast in February 2007. During the biopsy, I was given the option of having the breast removed if the tumour proved to be cancerous, but unfortunately, I said no. As a result, a quarter of my breast had to be removed to reach and remove the tumour.
I then underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatment, followed by five years of medication.
In 2012, after being cancer-free, I decided to have reconstructive surgery in an attempt to balance the shape and size of my breasts. The surgeon also performed additional surgery on my left breast, which unfortunately took a very long time to heal.
Initially, my breasts were more or less the same, but as the years passed, the size and shape of my right breast changed. The next challenge became finding a bra that would fit properly and help shape both breasts so that they appeared as normal and balanced as possible.
After 19 years, I became aware that medical benefits could assist me in finding a solution. Through networking with friends and other institutions, I was introduced to Jane.
I would like to sincerely thank Jane for always going the extra mile to find solutions and help resolve my issues. Her understanding, dedication and willingness to assist have made such a meaningful difference in my journey.
