KLERKSDORP/TSHEPONG HOSPITAL COMPLEX SUCCESSFULLY PERFORMS COMPLEX ENDOVASCULAR AORTIC REPAIR

The Klerksdorp-Tshepong Hospital Complex is proud to announce the successful completion of a complex Endovascular Aortic Repair [EVAR] on a 53-Year-old Patient Ms Enid Tshiponyane from Stilfontein in Tshepong Hospital.
This Operation marks another milestone in specialized surgical care at the hospital.
The procedure was performed by a multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Thomas Rangaka Head of Surgery, with support from Cardiology, Anaesthetics, Radiology, and Theatre nursing staff, Clerks as well as Cleaners.
An Endovascular Aortic Repair is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms. It involves placing a stent graft inside the aorta to strengthen the vessel wall and prevent rupture, without the need for major open surgery. This results in reduced recovery time, less pain, and lower risk for patients.

The successful procedure forms part of Klerksdorp-Tshepong Hospital Complex's commitment to expanding specialist services and reducing the need for patients to be referred to other provinces for complex care.

*COMMUNITY UPDATE*
The ongoing water challenges in Matlosana Municipality are impacting Klerksdorp-Tshepong Hospital Complex.

This is due to burst pipe according to the Municipality. KLERKSDORP-TSHEPONG HOSPITAL Complex by virtue of falling under the Municipality grounds is also affected by this Water Interruption.

According to the Municipality water supply will be restored as soon as the pipeline has been repaired.

He was admitted on the 21st July 2026 in Tshepong and he passed away on the 25th July 2026. He is suspected to be from Khuma Location, Stilfontein
Any one who knows him or is Family is requested to call Tshepong Hospital Mortuary on 018 406 3257.

Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital was recently visited by Security Management.
The purpose of the the visit was to discuss security matters affecting Klerksdorp-Tshepong Hospital and to also guide and advice the Hospital security better.
Hospital Security is essential to protect patients, staff, sensitive data, and medical assets, ensuring a safe and effective healthcare environment.
Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital complex care for vulnerable populations, including the elderly, disabled, and critically ill, who may not be able to protect themselves in emergencies. Security measures such as surveillance systems, restricted access points, and emergency protocols help prevent unauthorized access, violence, and theft, ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, and healthcare workers were amongst topics highlighted during the visit.

Hospitals like ours are among the most challenging environments to secure. They must remain open and accessible to patients, families, and emergency responders while simultaneously protecting vulnerable individuals, controlled substances, sensitive medical records, and expensive equipment.

Unlike corporate offices that can lock down access with a single policy, hospitals must balance security with the fundamental mission of providing care.

Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex had a visit by South African Nursing Council (SANC) led by Ms M Makgotlhoe and Nursing Directorate (Provincial office) Ms E Mere on the 3rd year "Phased in approach" to CPD implementation briefing for all Nursing categories at Hospitals, and Nursing Colleges.
The South African Nursing Council (SANC) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) system requires nurses and midwives to earn 15 CPD points annually. The CPD year runs from July to June. SANC is currently in its third year of a phased-in rollout, and the system mandates the maintenance of a Portfolio of Evidence.
CPD means a purposeful statutory process whereby practitioners registered with SANC through personal commitment engage in a range of learning activities, events, programmes to maintain and improve their knowledge skills, attitudes and professional to keep up to date with new science, innovation and healthcare development to enable them to practise safely, ethically, competently and legally within their evolving scope of practise and to provide quality care to the South African community.
