Their many years existence in the hearing industry is a testament to their professional service. Angela & Renate regularly attend seminars and conferences in order to update their

knowledge with the newest technology and research. This ensures that they provide a comprehensive service to their clients. The partners are registered with the HPCSA and are members of SAAA (South African Association of Audiologists), SASLHA (South African Speech, Language and hearing Association) and ISA (International Society of Audiology). The partners are qualified in the area of hearing aids as well as electrophysiological testing. At its core Michaelides & Vermaas is about making a difference in people's lives and they are committed to looking for ways in which to make small differences, and big ones, that benefit not only their patients, but the community at large. If you suspect you may have a hearing problem, do not hesitate to contact Angela & Renate. M & V are fully trained Audiologists with a four years honours University degree. They are trained in the prevention, diagnosis and non-medical treatment of hearing and balance problems in adults and children. A doctor's referral is not necessary to be able to visit an audiologist. Angela & Renate will conduct a thorough diagnostic examination of your hearing in order to determine the nature and degree of your problem. If no medical intervention is indicated, M & V will be able to make suggestions regarding the type of hearing aid necessary in order to meet your specific needs.

Die griepseisoen is hier - en met dit kom 'n klomb snuif, niesery en verstopte neuse.

Wat baie mense nie weet nie: 'n gewone verkoue of grieperigheid kan ook jou gehoor beïnvloed.

Hier is hoe:
🔹 Verkoues laat vloeistof en swelling agter die trommelvlies ophoop - wat klank gedemp laat klink
🔹 Sinusdruk kan 'n vol of geblokkeerde gevoel in jou ore veroorsaak
🔹 Konstante niesery en hoes kan druk op die Eustagiese buis plaas, wat balans en gehoor beïnvloed
🔹 In meeste gevalle is hierdie veranderinge tydelik - maar as dit aanhou ná die verkoue verdwyn het, is dit tyd om te laat ondersoek

As jou ore al vir 'n paar weke vol of dof voel, selfs nadat die snotterigheid opgeklaar het; moenie dit ignoreer nie.

Gehoorverlies kondig homself selde dramaties aan.

Dit kom nie met 'n groot oomblik nie.
Dit kom in die gesprekke waaraan jy opgehou deelneem het.
Die aandete tafels waar jy net geglimlag en geknik het.
Die telefoonoproepe wat moeiliker geword het.
Die familie-byeenkomste wat uitputtend voel in plaas van vreugdevol.

En stadig (sonder dat jy dit eens besef) word die wêreld 'n bietjie stiller. 'n Bietjie kleiner. 'n Bietjie minder joune.

Ons trek warmer aan in winter - trui, serp, 'n warm beker iets.
Maar ons d**k selde aan ons ore.

Hier is wat koue weer werklik aan jou gehoor doen:
🔹 Koue lug maak die trommelvlies stywer, wat dit moeiliker maak om te vibreer en klank duidelik oor te dra
🔹 Winterverkoues en sinusopeenhoping laat vloeistof agter die trommelvlies ophoop - wat druk, dowwe gehoor en ongemak veroorsaak
🔹 Verminderde bloedvloei na die oor beteken minder natuurlike beskerming teen infeksie
🔹 As jy reeds gehoorverlies het, kan koue weer dit merkbaar erger laat voel

Met die griepseisoen wat nou in volle swang is, is dit nog belangriker om op te let na veranderinge in jou gehoor.
