Who Should Approach Deep-Dive Breathwork With Caution (And Why)

Hello sovereign light

Breathwork can be a powerful healing tool, but intense, deep-dive practices are not suitable for everyone. If you have certain health conditions, it’s important to consider your individual needs and seek appropriate medical advice before taking part in intense Breathwork. For others, a gentler approach may be more appropriate when beginning or exploring deeper Breathwork.

Who should approach deep Breathwork with caution?

Individuals with cardiovascular conditions such as heart disease or uncontrolled high blood pressure, as some Breathwork practices can temporarily affect heart rate and blood pressure.

Those with significant respiratory conditions, such as severe asthma or COPD, or anyone recovering from a recent respiratory illness.

People with seizure disorders or epilepsy, as certain breathing patterns may potentially affect seizure threshold.

Anyone experiencing significant mental health difficulties, including active PTSD, severe panic symptoms or psychosis, particularly without appropriate professional support.

Pregnant ladies should rather practice gentler Breathwork, as intense or vigorous breathing practices may place unnecessary stress on the body during pregnancy.

Those who are completely new to Breathwork may benefit from beginning with gentle, guided practices before attempting deeper sessions.

Why these precautions?

Intense Breathwork can sometimes cause dizziness, tingling, changes in heart rate, emotional release or physical discomfort. Without appropriate preparation and guidance, these experiences may feel overwhelming or may aggravate an existing condition.

If any of these apply to you:

Consider beginning with gentler breathing techniques or guided meditation.
Speak with your healthcare professional when appropriate, particularly if you have a heart, lung or seizure condition, or are pregnant.
If you're new to Breathwork, start gently and allow your body to become familiar with the practice.
Work with a trained and experienced Breathwork facilitator when exploring deeper practices.
Never force your breath or push through pain, distress or significant discomfort.
Listen closely to your body's signals and pause whenever something doesn't feel right.
Use grounding and calming techniques before and after your practice.

Remember the above when practicing Breathwork safely. Your safety and wellbeing always come first.

Breathwork is a beautiful journey inward. The intention is not to push harder, but to listen more deeply, breathe with awareness and honor what your body is telling you.

“Trust yourself because you are an incredible force of power. Within yourself there is everything you need. Look within, the insight is there.”

Hello sovereign light

There is a deep intelligence living within us that has never been lost or broken. It has been guiding us long before we learned to doubt our self. When we pause and turn inward, we reconnect with a power that is steady, wise, and profoundly our own.

So often the mind looks outward for answers, reassurance, or permission, yet our soul already holds what we seek. Every experience, every breath, every quiet nudge has been shaping our inner knowing. Trust grows when we honor that voice instead of questioning its validity.

Let today be an invitation to listen more closely to yourself. The insight we are searching for does not need to arrive from outside. It rises gently from within when we are willing to be still enough to hear it.

With love, light and inner knowing
