❓ How is Deep Oscillation different from traditional massage?
At first glance, Deep Oscillation can look a lot like a massage. Your therapist is still working with their hands on the body — but what's happening within the tissue is different.
Traditional massage primarily uses mechanical pressure and movement. Techniques such as kneading, compression and stretching are used to work with muscles and other soft tissues.
Deep Oscillation, on the other hand, uses an electrostatic field created between the therapist and the client. As the therapist's hands move over the body, this produces gentle oscillations within the treated tissues.
✨ So why does that matter?
Because the treatment doesn't rely on strong physical pressure to create its effect.
This means Deep Oscillation can be used very gently — particularly when an area is painful, swollen, sensitive or irritated and heavy pressure may not be comfortable or appropriate.
Deep Oscillation is commonly used as part of treatment to support:
✔️ Pain and muscle tension
✔️ Swelling and lymphatic drainage
✔️ Recovery after physical activity
✔️ Soft-tissue mobility
✔️ Scar and connective-tissue treatment
✔️ Relaxation and recovery
And gentle doesn't mean you won't feel anything.
Most clients describe Deep Oscillation as a soft pulsing, vibrating or “moving” sensation beneath the therapist's hands. The therapist can adjust the treatment depending on the area being worked on and what your body needs.
Deep Oscillation also doesn't have to replace hands-on therapy.
At Ariel Wellness, it can be incorporated alongside other therapeutic techniques when appropriate. The difference is that we don't have to rely on increasingly firm pressure to work with sensitive tissues.
💚 Sometimes effective treatment doesn't need to hurt.
Deep Oscillation gives us another way to work with the body — gently, comfortably and according to each client's individual needs.
