Are some essential oils safe for ingestion ?**** in My experience and My opinion !

Yes and No

Watch the video and learn herbs for more nuanced understanding of this question

PS only certain specific plant ( variety and preparations method dependant) hydrosols are recommended for ingestion

Most essential oils are perfectly safe for topical use and steam inhalation ,also recommended to be diluted in carriar of good oil or water dependant on the plant and the application you need it for

Hydrosols really shine when included in your skin care routine as a mist between your oils and serums , they are emulsifying and hydrating but each plant carries its own signature energetics and uses so be sure to learn the about the herbs you are working with

Eg.

jasmine is cooling and gently demeulcent ( moistening )

Witch hazel is astringent and cleansing

Calendula is soothing, healing for the skin

Tea tree is drying , disinfecting and toning

So you will need to get to know your herbs and self choose the hydrsols of the herbs that relate to your unique skin and body needs! ( ot feel free to share and ask questions )

Hydrosols are also much more than just skin and body mists ! They have so many uses which I shall shate in my next post

i work from my home based apothecary on the edge of a forest valley deep in the garden route ... i work in flow with being an unschooling mother and other homestead and life tasks ofcourse... so many of the aspects of my work dont feel like "work" although they definitely do take time and effort and im so grateful to work and mother close to the land and excited and commited to growth and sustainable! expansion of my little Apothecary 🌕

Got half way through cataloging and sorting my entire seed bank , Errands, cooking meals, cleaning , reading many books and play with my son , admin emails working to solve website technical issues ( please still place all orders via DM , request the Apothecary menu , while i await verification for my new paymeny gateway ) , trusting the process, immersing in the feeling of virgo szn ( honoring the balance of rest and action , and refining quality /presence of action while also celebrating what already is ! )

*What is a Hydrosol?*

Aromatic distilled Botanical water yeiled through the process of steam distillation where by the steam of pure water is passed through fresh plant material , this steams carries beneficial water soluble compounds aswell as a small amount of the plants essential oils . The steam droplets that pass through the plants and condensed into the pure hydrosol.

*What can a Hydrosol be used for?*
-Herbal/ Medicinal Uses dependant on the Plant
-Skin Mists / Toners
-Aromatic Room or Linen Spray
-Cleaning Surfaces
-Diluting or formulating natural cleaning products
-Can be used instead of plain water in formulating face mask, lotions , skin care products ,soaps ect.

*How long does a hydrosol last ?*
They are best used within 6 months but can last for up to 12 or longer depending on how they are stored ( in a cool dark place) . Depending on the Plant certain Hydrosols can become more potent as they mature.
