The Beighton Scale is the quickest and easiest way to start checking for hypermobility and, possibly, EDS. It is scored out of nine, and a score above four warrants a visit to your physio, and above six, both your physio and a paediatric rheumatologist.

It's Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Awareness Month!

Why the Zebra symbol?? Doctors are taught 'when you hear hoofbeats, think horses not zebras,' meaning a doctor should first think about what is a more common ailment. In this case, EDS has many many symptoms that could point to something else, but its definitely a Zebra!!

💛Today is International Childhood Cancer Day. Every 3 minutes a child dies from cancer. Sadly, survival rates depend largely on where that child happens to live with an 80% survival rate in high income countries but just 20% survival rate in LMIC where it is often the leading cause of non-accidental death in children and adolescents.
🫶 This year's theme for is 'Inspiring Action'. At PatchSA we inspire action by increasing awareness of the need for children with cancer to receive palliative care and by providing accessible and affordable education for professional healthcare providers on the key elements of paediatric palliative care.
