This week we completed our 1000th case at the Lowveld Eye Institute.
A thousand patients through our theatres since we opened the doors on 20 February 2026. It has been a busy, full, sometimes overwhelming few months, and honestly we have had our heads down the whole way. So the thank-yous I owe never got sent.
Now that our heads are above water, I want to put that right.
A building like this, and a first thousand cases, is never the work of one person. Swipe through. Every card thanks a team that helped make it real.
The structure: Boogertman + Partners who designed it, Kampman who built it, Endecon who engineered it to stand perfectly still, del QS who kept it honest, and Indurain and Annemarie Swanepoel Attorneys who cleared the way before a brick was laid.
The fabric: RMR Aluminium and Glass, Customade joinery, Sign Art, Spoormaker and Prestige Air on mechanical and air, Veld du Toit on electrical, and CEGS keeping the power on through anything the grid does.
The technology: GoodX with Quant Solutions, Xpert IT and NEC who built our digital backbone. Zeiss and Busa Med for our microscopes, Intamed and UFSK-OSYS for our theatre chairs, and Essilor for our consulting rooms.
The welcome: E Grow who planted the grounds, Cleaning Specialists who keep us spotless, and Plato Coffee at our front door.
And those who walked the whole road with us: the team at Xpedient, Carel van Wyk, the Department of Health Mpumalanga, and our own Lowveld Eye Institute team, led by Elsa.
A thousand cases in, this place is everything we hoped it would be. It is yours as much as ours.
Thank you. Here is to the next thousand.
The glass. The windows. The entrance. The internal screens.
Every aluminium and glass surface you see at the Lowveld Eye Institute was supplied and installed by RMR Aluminium and Glass, and the quality of the finish speaks for itself.
This is the kind of work that often goes unnoticed until it's not there. When it's done well, it just looks right. RMR did it well.
Thank you for contributing to a building we're proud to walk into every morning.
A building is also a financial document.
Every payment, every contractor claim, every professional fee, every
