The vision of SAVIC is to improve the health of future generations by strengthening immunisation prog

SAVIC is a public-private-academic alliance between the NDoH, the vaccine industry, academic institutions and other stakeholders, with its activities undertaken in close collaboration with the NDoH, NESI, the WHO and its partners. SAVIC was established to strengthen collaborations between academics, the NDoH, the vaccine industry and other stakeholders, with the overall aim of supporting immunisation services. Although there are a number of players in the field of vaccines and immunisation, SAVIC has a unique aim of strengthening immunisation programmes by bridging the gap through cascading of up-to-date vaccine-related information to the community and operational-level staff with various innovative outreach programmes. Thus, SAVIC creates a platform whereby experts from universities, the NDoH and provincial departments of health, the vaccine industry, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and public-private partnerships interact in a joint effort to improve public health programmes concerning VPDs.

Parents and caregivers are urged to ensure that children are vaccinated against rotavirus. Continue breastfeeding infants, and give children with diarrhoea oral rehydration solution (ORS) to help prevent dehydration.

Rotavirus is a common infection that can cause severe dehydration, particularly in young children. It spreads through the faecal-oral route.

Symptoms may include:
• Vomiting
• Watery diarrhoea
• Fever
• Loss of appetite

Early recognition and treatment of dehydration are crucial to prevent severe complications.

💉 Protect Your Child for Life with Routine Immunisation. Every vaccine on your child's immunisation schedule helps protect them from serious, preventable diseases.

Moms, remember to always make sure your child's Road to Health Booklet is up to date and don't miss any vaccination appointments. If you do miss an appointment, please go back to the clinic and ask for a new date. Or register on to get clinic reminders straight to your phone.

📅 The Routine Immunisation Schedule found on page 27 of the Road to Health Booklet (ikhadi lasekliniki) includes important immunisation schedules from birth until your child turns 12 years old:

👶 At birth: BCG and OPV 0
👶 6 weeks: OPV 1, Rotavirus 1, PCV 1, Hexavalent (DTaP-IPV-Hib-HBV) 1
👶10 weeks: Hexavalent (DTaP-IPV-Hib-HBV) 2 and Rotavirus 2
👶14 weeks: PCV 2 and Hexavalent (DTaP-IPV-Hib-HBV) 3
👶 6 months: Measles-Rubella 1
👶 9 months: PCV 3
👶 12 months: Measles-Rubella 2
👶18 months: Hexavalent (DTaP-IPV-Hib-HBV) 4
👶6 years: Tdap booster
👧Girls aged 9 years and older: HPV vaccine
👧12 years: Tdap booster

💚 Immunisations are safe, effective and provided free of charge at public health facilities. Keeping up with your child's immunisations gives them the best start in life and helps protect the whole community.

📘If you have lost your clinic card, misplaced it, or missed your clinic date, you can still return to the clinic and request a new clinic card or a new appointment date.

👶🏻From birth until your child is of school-going age, they must receive all their immunisations to prevent them from getting sick from diseases such as Measles, Rubella, Tuberculosis, Human Papilloma Virus, Polio, Mumps, Pneumonia, Chickenpox, or Hepatitis.

👶🏻Once your child reaches 24 months (2 yrs), they should also receive their Vitamin A and deworming every six months until they turn 5 years old.

📲When you miss your clinic date, it is ok to return to the clinic to vaccinate your child or to get a new date. Even when vaccine stocks are low, please register on by dialling this free USSD code: *134*550*2 #. You will be notified when vaccines are back in stock.

🧾Losing your clinic card or finding out that the immunisation shots are low should not discourage you, mommy. We do have resources that inform you when stock is available at your clinic on our online platforms.

🫱🏻‍🫲🏾It takes all of us to protect our little ones. Showing up at the clinic is the first step.
