Every hand makes a difference đź’™

From the warm welcome at reception to the care in the scan room and the expertise behind every report, our patients notice the people who look after them. These are just a few of the kind words they shared with us this week.

To every person behind every image, across all our branches: thank you.

Happy International Day of Radiology!

Every hand makes a difference đź’™

This International Day of Radiology, 8 November, we're celebrating the hands behind every image: the welcome at reception, the care in the scan room, the expertise in every report, and everyone in between.

Meet the Hands of Morton.

A stroke is a brain attack, and every minute counts đź’™

This World Stroke Day, Dr Eb Kader explains how to recognise a stroke and what you can do while help is on the way.

Think F.A.S.T.
🔹 Face: drooping or uneven on one side
🔹 Arm (or leg): sudden weakness or numbness
🔹 Speech: slurred, muddled or lost
🔹 Time: call for help immediately

While you wait, keep them comfortable, give them nothing to eat or drink, and keep their airway clear.

Save this and share it with someone you love. Knowing the signs could save a life đź’™

Feel it. Fight it. Beat it. đź’™

Our Vuyo, Mammographer and Head of Department at Morton & Partners Mitchells Plain, sat down with Radio Tygerberg to share her own breast cancer journey, along with a message every woman needs to hear.

No family history? That’s not a reason to skip your checks. Do your self-exams, know what’s normal for you, and keep up with regular screening 💙

Thank you for sharing your story, Vuyo. You inspire us every day.

“You can take care of everything practically, and still leave an emotional gap.” 💙

Welcome back to Sharing Changes Everything.
Last week, Amber told us how she found her lump and trusted her instinct. This week, she and Nicholas talk about something many couples never expect.

When Amber was diagnosed, Nicholas took care of everything he could. He researched, planned and prepared. But looking back, he wishes someone had told him how important emotional support is too.

They were newly married, still meant to be in their honeymoon phase, and suddenly “thrown into a washing machine of absolute craziness”.

If you’re supporting someone you love through illness, you don’t have to be strong all the time.

Say the hard things.
Share how you feel.

And if you’re the one going through it, ask for what you need. Share the stories. Share the hope.

đź’¬ What do you wish someone had told you before you supported a loved one? Share it below, or tag someone who needs to hear this today.

📍 Part 3 is coming next week, and the full interview soon.

From 1 October to 15 November, we’re offering 30% off routine mammograms for private patients. To book, visit morton.co.za and click on “Make a booking”.

She found a lump. She didn’t wait. 💙

Every family has a recipe worth passing down. But so often, the stories about our health are the ones we never share. This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re asking women to change that.

Let’s share the knowledge too.

That’s why we’re launching a new series, Sharing Changes Everything. We asked Amber and Nicholas, a husband and wife, to share their experience of breast cancer in their own words.

Amber saw her gynae, then a breast surgeon. Both first thought it looked harmless, but something told her to keep asking. She trusted that instinct and asked to have it removed. Her cancer was borderline stage 2.
Today she is a breast cancer survivor.

“I’ve spoken to so many people who are afraid to go to the doctor in case they find something. I get it, I really do. But finding something early can save your life.”

If you’ve been putting something off because you’re scared, you’re not alone, and it’s okay to feel that way. Be gentle with yourself, and take the first small step. Tell someone you love how you’re feeling. Share the stories. Share the hope.

💬 When did you last talk to the women in your life about their health? Tell us below, or tag someone you’d like to start that conversation with.

Look out for the next part of the series next week, and for the full interview soon.

From 1 October to 15 November, we’re offering 30% off routine mammograms for private patients. Speak to your doctor about when a mammogram is right for you. To book, visit morton.co.za and click on “Make a booking”.

Many of us were handed a recipe by someone we love. From a grandmother, to a mother, to us. đź’™

But so often, the stories about our health were never handed down with it. The worries, the family history and the fears stayed quiet, because we believed silence would keep us safe.

But knowledge is what protects us. The recipe worth sharing is prevention.

This year, our gift to every mammogram patient is a cookie, made with love by our partners at Oh my Dough (while stocks last 🍪). It's a gentle reminder that we can share our family recipes and also our experiences of women's health, and what we've learned along the way. On each cookie is a QR code to sign up for our Women's Health newsletter, so you can stay up to date with the latest on preventative screening and technology.

From 1 October to 15 November, enjoy 30% off routine mammograms.

The stories we share today could help protect the women we love tomorrow. Who will you share this recipe with? Tag her below. đź’™
