Robertson & vd Mescht Occupational Therapists We're a private practice situated in Mossel Bay. We see children between 0-12 years with a wide variety of diagnoses.

Our practice is comprised of 3 OT’s (specializing in neuro-developmental techniques, early-intervention and sensory integration). Our services include:
* Early intervention (0-4 years) - starting with the newborns
* Developmental delays (0-12 years)
* Intellectual disabilities
* Children with physical disabilities
* Mums & Bums stimulation groups for mothers and babies
* Dyslexia assessment and in

As we celebrate Women’s day in South Africa today, let us not forget all the wonderful women that came before us and helped shape the people we are today.

We also think about the brave women that stood up for equality all the way back in 1956 and led with the slogan: ‘You strike a woman, you strike a rock!’
May every woman in this beautiful country strive to be a role model for the people in her life, and those that will come after her.

World breastfeeding week

Did you know that occupational therapists can also play a role in your breastfeeding journey?
As part of a multidisciplinary team we support infants and their families with feeding and eating difficulties. By addressing environmental and contextual barriers to engagement in breastfeeding, we can support and improve the well-being of mothers and infants.
Breastfeeding is a perfect example of a co-occupation - a shared, interactive process where both parties have an influence on the other’s reaction. Apart from the feeding experience, it creates an important environment for mutual bonding, self-regulation, communication and other important developmental skills.

Breastfeeding, while wonderful, can be overwhelming. However, with the right support, both mother and baby can thrive while nurturing basic and more advanced social and emotional needs.

"We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to
do right." - Nelson Mandela-🇿🇦

Met Mandela-dag net om die draai, word ons almal weer daaraan herinner om aan daardie een "iets" te d**k wat ons kan doen om 'n verskil in iemand anders se lewe te maak deur op 18 Julie iets doelbewus vir iemand te doen, te gee of te sê.

Doing something for the environment also counts as a 'good deed' and we can all contribute to a cleaner street, park or beach.🍂🏖️

"Giving" does not necessarily have to involve money and can come in different forms, such as:

*    Donating blood.💉
*    Spending time with someone who is alone.🧡
*    Baking cookies for your neighbour.🍪
*    Visiting your local old age home.🧓🧑‍🦳
*    Picking up rubbish in the street you live.🗑️
*    Cleaning up a part of the beach.♻️

Let us show our thankfulness by giving. May we however not stop at the end of the 18th of July, but may we open our eyes for the needs around us and make it a daily habit to have open hands and hearts.♥️

Met nog ‘n kwartaal agter die rug wil ons al ons wonderlike families, die personeel by die skole en al die ander rolspelers bedank saam met wie ons die voorreg het om te werk. Dit is ‘n eer om hierdie pad saam met julle te stap.

Aan al ons ongelooflike kinders - ons is so trots op al die harde werk, groei en prestasies wat julle tot dusver bereik het. Ons hoop julle geniet ‘n wel-verdiende vakansie propvol rus, pret en spesiale familie oomblikke!

Remember that learning doesn’t stop during the holidays—it often happens through the simplest moments of play! Here are a few easy ideas to keep little minds and bodies active:
🎈 Play with balloons to practise catching, throwing, balance and coordination.
🧺 Build forts with blankets and cushions to encourage creativity and problem-solving.
🌿 Go on a nature walk and collect interesting leaves, sticks or stones.
🎨 Create with playdough, crayons or recycled materials to strengthen little hands.
📚 Read stories together, cuddled up under a blanket.
💛 Most importantly, enjoy unhurried time together.

Met 129 siftings wat agter die rug is, is ons byna gereed om die laaste verslae uit te stuur! 📝

Dankie , , en .park.mosselbaai vir die vertroue wat julle in ons en plaas om met jul leerders te werk. 🏫

Although the screening focuses only on the basic developmental skills, the purpose is to identify important challenges and to intervene ASAP as research shows that the sooner intervention can be given, the better the outcome.😎
