Passion is the rhythm to which I choreograph the dance of life. I love the outdoors and all things natural. Technology has some perks. Load shedding might be one of the best things that have happened to our relationships! My family and friends are the most precious things I have. I take time to indulge in good wine and succulent food. Pastries are my Achilles hill. A hard workout is the best medic

ine for a bad mood. Spending time in Mother Nature gives your brain space to breathe. I am inspired by people who step up to the plate and beat the odds. I value knowledge and books. I have a special place for silver haired adults as they have the best advice for most things life has to offer. Above all I am extremely passionate about the people that come into my practice, the history, the injuries and the goals that come with them!

Understanding the biomechanics of running is an important measure to improve performance, reduce the risk of running related injuries and improve your comfort when you run.

Common running form errors:
• Overstriding:
This is when your foot lands in front of your body, instead of underneath it. Overstriding can lead to stress on your knees and hips.

• Heel striking:
This is when your heel hits the ground first, instead of your midfoot or forefoot. Heel striking can also lead to stress on your knees and hips.

• Poor posture:
This can include slouching forward, rounding your shoulders, or leaning too far back. Poor posture can lead to muscle imbalances and injuries.

Here are some specific symptoms of common running injuries:

• Runner's knee: Pain in the front of the knee, especially when going up or down stairs or sitting with the knee bent for a long time.

• IT band syndrome: Pain on the outside of the knee, especially when running downhill or turning corners.

• Shin splints: Pain along the front of the shinbone, especially when running on hard surfaces.

• Achilles tendinitis: Pain in the back of the heel, especially when running uphill or pushing off with the toes.

• Stress fractures: Pain in a bone, such as the shinbone or metatarsal bones in the foot, especially when running on hard surfaces.

Running injuries can be caused by several factors, including:
• Overuse: This is the most common cause of running injuries. It occurs when you put too much stress on your muscles, bones, and joints without giving them enough time to recover.

• Improper running technique: If you don't run with proper form, you are more likely to develop an injury. This can be due to factors such as over striding, heel striking, or running with a poor posture.

• Muscle weakness or imbalance: If certain muscles are weak or imbalanced, it can put more stress on other muscles and joints, leading to injury.

• Wearing improper footwear: Running shoes that are too old, worn out, or don't fit properly can increase your risk of injury.

Biokinetics help to reduce pain, improve range of motion, strengthen muscles, and improve balance and coordination. We also teach runners proper running technique and how to avoid future injuries.

In addition to treating injuries, Biokineticists can also help runners improve their performance.
