What Destroys Most People..

17/06/2026

A verse I read this morning;

Ecclesiastes 9:16-18
"It is better to listen to the quiet words of a wise man than to the shouts of a ruler at a council of fools. Wisdom does more good than weapons, but one sinner can undo a lot of good."

May these words guide you in every encounter today.

God Bless.

One of the greatest mistakes organisations make is viewing people as resources to be managed.

People are not numbers on a spreadsheet.
They are not costs to be controlled.
They are not simply positions to be filled.

People are potential.

Potential to learn.
Potential to grow.
Potential to innovate.
Potential to inspire others.

The most successful organisations, schools, sports clubs and businesses understand a simple truth: sustainable success is built through developing people, not merely managing them.

When leaders invest in growth, create opportunities, build trust and empower others to become the best version of themselves, extraordinary things begin to happen.

Strong organisations are not built by systems alone.

They are built by people who believe they matter.

“The future belongs to organisations that understand a simple truth: people are not a resource to be managed, but a potential to be developed.” - Dr Cronjé

Today reminded me how important people are.

We spend so much of our lives at work, and sometimes we forget that the people around us can become like family.

This morning, the staff surprised me, and I won’t lie, it made me feel really special. More than that, it reminded me that it takes special people to make someone feel special. People often talk about buildings, programs, results, and achievements when describing a great school. But the true heart of any school is its people.

I am incredibly grateful to be part of a team that not only works hard and strives for excellence but also genuinely cares about one another. That is something you cannot buy or force. It comes from kindness, respect, and people choosing every day to create a positive environment for those around them.

For that, I want to say thank you, Urbanites, for making Urban Academy the special place that it is.

My message this year for Easter, in my mother tongue, Afrikaans.

“Die kruis is nie die einde nie” - Dr. Cronje

“Hulle het Hom nie herken nie,

Die Koning,
met stof op Sy voete
en bloed op Sy rug.

Nie ’n kroon van goud nie,
maar dorings
wat diep in Sy voorkop gedruk is.

Nie ’n troon nie,
maar ’n kruis.

Nie aanbidding nie,
maar geskreeu.

Hulle het Hom geslaan,
gespoeg,
gespot,
en geskree:
“Red jouself.”

Maar Hy het nie gekom
om Homself te red nie.

Hy het gekom
vir ons.

Elke hou van die sweep
het ’n prys gedra.

Elke wond
het genade geskryf.

Elke spyker
het die gewig van ons sonde gedra.

En daardie ruwe hout
was eintlik myne.

Daardie straf
was eintlik myne.

Daardie pyn
was eintlik myne.

Maar Hy,
het in my plek gaan staan.

Die hemel het stil geraak.

Die aarde het gebewe.

En die son
het sy lig teruggetrek.

Want die Seun van God
het gehang
tussen hemel en aarde,
tussen oordeel en genade.

En toe kom daardie woorde:

“Dit is volbring.”

Nie woorde van verloor nie.
Nie woorde van opgee nie.

Maar woorde van oorwinning.

Die skuld is betaal.
Die prys is klaar gedra.
Die deur is oopgemaak.

Want die kruis
was nie die einde nie.

Die graf
was nie die einde nie.

Die klip
was nie die einde nie.

Want liefde
kan nie begrawe bly nie.

En toe Hy Sy asem gee,
het Hy nie net gesterf nie,

Hy het verlos.

Hy het herstel.

Hy het bewys
dat liefde sal bloei
selfs deur hout
en spykers.

En ek sal nooit weer
na die kruis kyk
as net dood nie,

want daar
het genade
my naam geleer.”

“Some seasons don’t feel like growth; they feel like loss, like silence, like everything you built is being stripped away. But God doesn’t remove without purpose. He makes space for what your old self could never carry.” - Dr. Cronjé

There are seasons where life doesn’t feel like progress, it feels like things are being taken.

Plans shift. Doors close. Energy runs low. And you start questioning whether you’re moving forward at all.

But this is the part we often misunderstand.

Before the resurrection, there was surrender. Before victory, there was silence. Before life broke through, something had to be laid down.

Easter isn’t just about celebration; it’s about understanding that God does some of His deepest work in the moments that feel like loss.

So if things feel heavy right now; stay in it.
If it feels quiet; stay faithful in it. If it feels like you’re being stretched; don’t pull back.

Because God is not absent in these moments; He is preparing you for something your current version of yourself wouldn’t be ready to carry yet.

Romans 5:3–4
“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
