ive in the areas of Trauma, Addiction, Family, Relationships, Emotional Management, Relationship Counselling, Co-Dependency and boundary issues. I have assisted many people to overcome abuse, be it emotional, physical or sexual. I have been very active in the field of addiction. My strengths lie in assisting women and mentoring young girls to accept themselves for who they are. I love being involved in the building of someone's self esteem and self value. Most of my work involves motivating people to become their best selves and to help them realize their value as a person, no matter who they are or where they come from. I consult, offer advice and counsel anyone in need of assistance and will always do my best! If I cannot help you, I will not waste your time and money and will refer you to someone else. I am based in Nigel, so if that is too far for you to travel, we can meet online.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

Setting healthy boundaries is the only way to stop the cycle Enabling, boundaries is a complex subject, its not just about being able to say no. It is also about other people respecting your no and not trying to manipulate you out of your no.

Disrespect of boundaries that you are trying to set includes manipulation and if that doesn't work, aggression (because you probably dont like conflict) and if aggression doesn't work then the person stops talking to you (maybe because you have trouble dealing with the tension)

Many of us want to help the people we love. We want to rescue and help, but this is often very destructive for everyone caught up in this cycle.

Rescuers or Caretakers never think they deserve to get their needs met. This is why I am including the cycle of Enabling VS SELF-CARE.

This is part two.

Many of us want to help the people we love.

But sometimes, what looks like helping can actually keep unhealthy patterns going and it is destructive more than anything else.

The Cycle of Enabling can leave both people feeling stuck, exhausted, and frustrated.

Healthy boundaries aren't about being uncaring—they're about allowing responsibility, growth, and healing to happen.

I am going to be creating more than one post on this. But I am going to combine it with self care. The reason I am doing this is because most rescuers do not have the ability to take care of themselves and their needs are never met either.

🌈 Take a HEART Check

At the end of the day, take a moment to check in with yourself.

What emotions have you been carrying? What has felt heavy? What might need your attention?
When we pause to take inventory of our feelings, we create space for understanding rather than reacting. Self-awareness isn't about judging ourselves—it's about listening to what our heart is trying to tell us.

Sometimes healing begins with a simple question: "How am I really doing today?" šŸ’œā˜ļøšŸŒˆ

Change is hard, let's not pretend it isn't. If you are serious about change you will have to prepare for some really uncomfortable situations. Change means growth and stepping out of your comfort zone. Don't be put off by the "relapse" stage of change, yes, sometimes we fail, but we must learn from our mistakes. Dust yourself off and try again.

Mother’s Day can hold many different emotions. šŸ’›

For some, it’s a day filled with love, laughter, hugs, and celebration.
For others, it may carry grief, distance, guilt, longing, or silence.

To the moms who constantly question themselves…

To the moms carrying guilt for the mistakes they believe they made…

To the moms who long for contact with their children…

To the foster moms, stepmoms, grandmothers, and mother figures who chose love…

To the single dads carrying both roles with strength and tenderness…

To those whose moms now live only in memory and in heaven…

And to those who ache to become mothers…

Today, we honour every story. 🌈

Motherhood was never about perfection. It has always been about love, showing up, trying again, and carrying others in your heart.

Wherever this day finds you, may you be gentle with yourself.
You are more loved than you know.

Happy Mother’s Day
Love, Shelley Vermaak
