A Medicine Woman's Prayer.

31/07/2026

A wise man once said: You'll be alone in the most difficult times of your life. These times will make you wise, mature, and fearless. They will strip away every illusion and show you who truly matters.

You'll learn to be your own strength when no one shows up. In silence, you'll meet the strongest version of yourself.

Pain will become your greatest teacher, and growth will become your quiet reward.. One day, you'll look back and realize solitude was a gift in disguise.

IMPORTANT FOOD FACTS THAT SOUND FAKE BUT ARE TRUE!

1. Ginger works as well as ibuprofen for pain.

Trials put ginger head-to-head with ibuprofen for arthritis and period pain and found no real difference. Same relief, without tearing up your stomach.

2. Cloves have more antioxidants than any food on earth.

More than blueberries, pomegranate, and acai combined. In the biggest antioxidant study ever done, over 3,100 foods, ground cloves came in at number one. A pinch of your tea does more than a shelf of expensive supplements.

3. Moringa leaves have more protein than beef, ounce for ounce, dried.

Dried moringa runs about 25 to 29% protein. Beef is around 26%. And it carries every essential amino acid, more calcium than a glass of milk, and more vitamin A than a carrot. One tablespoon.

4. Dandelion, the w**d you rip out of your yard, beats most of the produce in your store.

More beta-carotene than carrots. More calcium than milk. More iron than spinach. Plus compounds that help your liver and kidneys clear out waste.

You've been poisoning it. It's been trying to feed you.

5. Broccoli needs to be chopped and left to sit for 40 minutes before you cook it.

Sulforaphane, one of the most-studied cancer-fighting compounds in any food, only forms once the plant is cut. Cook it whole and you get almost none. Chop it, let it rest, then cook it light. The preparation is the medicine.

6. Oregano holds more antioxidants than most berries, fresh or dried.

In that same study, dried oregano landed in the top five spices on earth. It's full of rosmarinic acid and quercetin, both studied for calming inflammation and fighting off microbes. A teaspoon is working harder than you think.

7. The white pith of a lemon is more medicinal than the juice.

That spongy white layer everyone scrapes off carries hesperidin and naringenin, flavonoids studied for lowering blood pressure, easing inflammation, and protecting your blood vessels. The juice is mostly acid.

Most people throw the medicine in the trash.

8. Turmeric without black pepper is almost a waste.

On its own, only about 5% of curcumin, turmeric's healing compound, actually absorbs. Add black pepper and that jumps by roughly 2,000%.

South Asia has paired the two for thousands of years. They didn't have a lab. They had eyes, and time.

None of this came from a lab. It came from the ground, and from people paying attention. Food was always the medicine. ๐Ÿ™

What they don't tell us about heart disease.

Story at a Glance:

โ€ขThere is a widespread belief that elevated cholesterol is the โ€œcauseโ€ of cardiovascular disease. However, a large body of evidence shows that there is no association between the two and the real data shows lower cholesterol significantly increases oneโ€™s risk of death.

An alternative model (which the medical industry buried) proposes that the blood clots the body uses to heal arterial damage, once healed, create the characteristic atherosclerotic lesions associated with heart disease.

The evidence for the blood clot model is much stronger than the cholesterol hypothesis and provides many critical insights for treating heart disease.

The primary approach to treating heart disease is to prescribe cholesterol lowering statin drugs (to the point, over a trillion dollars have now been spent on them).

Unfortunately, the benefits of these highly toxic drugs are minuscule (e.g., at best taking them for years extends your life by a few days) and the harms are vast (statins are one of the most common pharmaceuticals that severely injure patients).

In this article we will explore the specific injuries caused by statin drugs, the forgotten causes of cardiovascular disease, and our preferred treatments for heart and vascular diseases.

Obesity, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, and gout.
5 diseases? Or one?

I came across this post on X by Dr Afshine Emrani regarding insulin sensitivity:

I'm a cardiologist. Let me tell you what I see in my practice that breaks my heart more than any clogged artery.
A patient walks in carrying five diagnoses โ€” obesity, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, and gout โ€” on seven medications. Each prescribed by a different specialist. Each treating one symptom. None of them talking to each other.
Nobody told this patient the five diagnoses are one disease.
They are five faces of the same metabolic dysfunction. And the root is almost always the same: chronically elevated insulin driving fat storage, inflammation, and organ damage simultaneously.
Medicine gave this patient a bigger bucket under every leak instead of fixing the roof.
Here's the roof. And how to fix it.
In 2025, the ICD-10 coding system โ€” the official classification used by every hospital and insurance company in America โ€” added a new code: E11.A. Type 2 diabetes in remission. Medicine now officially recognizes that type 2 diabetes is not a permanent, progressive sentence. It can be reversed.
The DiRECT trial in the UK achieved 46% diabetes remission at one year through intensive dietary intervention. A 2025 Indian study of 2,384 patients achieved 31% remission. A 2024 trial in Pacific Islanders achieved 23% remission โ€” with some patients entering remission without significant weight loss, proving the mechanism is metabolic, not just weight-driven.
This is not theoretical. It's published, replicated, and now coded in the medical system. Your doctor can document your reversal.
Here's the protocol I walk patients through โ€” step by step.
For the first 30-60 days, eliminate the foods that spike insulin repeatedly throughout the day: added sugars, sugary drinks, refined carbohydrates (bread, pasta, rice, cereals, pastries), ultra-processed foods, and excess alcohol.
This isn't about calories. It's about insulin. Every spike locks fat inside fat cells, drives fat storage in the liver, raises blood pressure, elevates uric acid, and fuels systemic inflammation. Remove the constant trigger and your body stops being in defense mode.
Cravings peak around days 3-7 and then drop dramatically. Most patients report a clarity of mind by week two that they haven't felt in years.

Every meal: generous protein (30-50g), non-starchy vegetables (half the plate), healthy fats for satiety (olive oil, avocado, eggs, nuts, butter). Protein at every meal is non-negotiable โ€” it stabilizes blood sugar, preserves muscle mass, and keeps you full for hours.
No calorie counting needed at the start. When you remove the processed foods that hijack appetite signaling, most people naturally eat less without trying โ€” because their leptin and ghrelin systems start working properly again.
Two to three meals only. No grazing. No snacking. Eat within an 8-10 hour window โ€” first meal around noon, last meal by 8 PM.
This gives your body long stretches in a low-insulin state โ€” the fat-burning, liver-clearing, insulin-sensitizing mode that never activates when you eat six small meals throughout the day. Time-restricted eating improves insulin sensitivity independently of what you eat โ€” published in multiple controlled trials.
Start at 12 hours. Shrink to 10. Then 8 when it feels natural. This is not deprivation โ€” it's metabolic rest.

Muscle is the largest glucose disposal organ in your body. It is your metabolic insurance policy. A 2025 meta-analysis confirmed that combined aerobic and resistance training improves body composition, lipid metabolism, glucose metabolism, and physical function in type 2 diabetes.
Minimum effective protocol: strength training 3 times per week โ€” squats, push-ups, rows, deadlifts โ€” plus 7,000-10,000 daily steps. A 10-15 minute walk after meals is especially powerful for blood sugar control โ€” multiple studies show it significantly blunts post-meal glucose spikes.
Do this consistently and your body becomes a glucose-processing machine. Insulin sensitivity improves with every session.
When insulin drops, your kidneys release sodium, potassium, and magnesium โ€” causing headaches, fatigue, cramps, dizziness, and brain fog that most people blame on the diet itself. This is the number one reason people quit in week one.
The fix is simple: salt your food generously. Eat potassium-rich foods (avocado, spinach, salmon). Supplement magnesium glycinate 300-400mg in the evening. Most people feel dramatically better within 24-48 hours of correcting this.
Important caveat: if you're on blood pressure medication or have kidney disease, discuss electrolyte targets with your physician before increasing sodium or potassium intake.

Every 8-12 weeks, get bloodwork: fasting insulin (the number one marker โ€” goal is trending down), HbA1c, triglycerides (should fall), HDL (should rise), liver enzymes (ALT/AST), uric acid, and hsCRP.
At home weekly: waist measurement at navel, morning weight fasted, blood pressure, and a simple journal tracking energy, sleep, and mental clarity.
When fasting insulin drops, triglycerides fall, HDL rises, and liver enzymes normalize โ€” you are reversing the metabolic dysfunction, regardless of what the scale says. The scale is the least important number.

As insulin drops and inflammation resolves, many medications become unnecessary โ€” or even counterproductive at full dose. Blood pressure medication that was appropriate at 220 pounds may cause dangerous hypotension at 180 pounds. Diabetes medication that was necessary at an A1c of 8.5 may cause hypoglycemia at 5.8.
Bring your tracking data to every appointment. Ask: "As my numbers improve, what's the plan to safely reduce my medications?"
Never stop medications on your own. Taper under medical supervision. But know this: the goal is to become a patient who no longer needs the prescription โ€” and that goal is medically achievable for millions of people who've been told it's not.
Realistic timeline: noticeable improvements in 4-8 weeks. First medication reductions often possible in 2-4 months. Many patients off multiple medications by 6 months.
Here's what I need every patient to understand.
Obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, fatty liver, gout, and chronic fatigue are not five separate diseases requiring five separate specialists and seven medications. They are the predictable outcome of a metabolism under constant attack from the modern food environment.
Remove the attackers. Give your body real food, resistance training, metabolic rest, and time to heal.
And it heals.
I've watched it happen in my practice hundreds of times. I've seen patients walk in on seven medications and walk out โ€” months later โ€” on one or none. With normal blood pressure. Normal blood sugar. A liver that's no longer drowning in fat. Joints that don't scream. A brain that finally works.
You have far more power over your health than anyone has told you. The ICD-10 now has a code for diabetes remission. Medicine finally agrees with what your body has been trying to tell you all along:
This is reversible.
Start with removing the processed food and fixing the electrolytes. Today. Not Monday. Today.
Your body wants to get better. Give it the chance

Coconut oil for Cognitive Enhancement:

COCONUT OIL may be one of the most powerful foods for reversing cognitive decline.

One doctor documented how just 5 spoonfuls a day helped her husband regain function he had lost months earlier.

Here's why it works (and how to start using it at home):

Over 55 million people around the world are living with Alzheimerโ€™s or other forms of dementia.

These conditions were once framed mostly as brain aging and damage, visible as plaques and tangles, but a new paradigm is uncovering an upstream driver and an unlikely supplement that could help. ๐Ÿงต
One emerging hallmark of dementia is impaired brain glucose metabolism. For some, without sufficient glucose-derived energy, brain function falters and other hallmarks like plaques, tangles, and atrophy can follow.

This same pattern, the brain struggling to use glucose efficiently, is what we are seeing in serious psychiatric conditions like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and depression.

This crossover is not a coincidence. Research suggests metabolic dysfunction in the brain may be an upstream driver of both neurodegenerative and psychiatric conditions, which is why the brain energy theory at the heart of metabolic psychiatry extends well beyond mental health alone.

This raises the question, what other options do we have for fueling the brain?
Itโ€™s well established that ketones can fuel a significant portion of the brainโ€™s energy needs.

Dr. Stephen Cunnane's research has shown that while the brains of older adults living with dementia or mild cognitive impairment struggle to take up and use glucose, they appear to handle ketones well.

In fact, the more ketones present in the blood, the more the brain appears to use.
Ketones can be provided to the brain through several mechanisms, such as:

โ†’ Fasting
Ketogenic Diet
MCT Fats & Ketone Boosting Supplements

Interestingly, much of the evidence on ketones and dementia comes from studies using coconut oil or MCT oil.

In 2008, Dr. Mary Newport began giving coconut oil to her husband, who had dementia, and documented repeated improvements in his cognitive function and daily activities.

She later compiled over 200 similar reports from families who observed the same. It was not a controlled trial, but it was a compelling observation that set off years of further inquiry.

Coconut oil's unique medium-chain fats appear to be the key.
Coconut oil is among the most natural ketogenic fats because it contains medium-chain fatty acids (MCTs) C6, C8, and C10

These fats are processed directly by the liver and converted into ketones which can then be taken up by the brain.

Early studies, not yet randomized controlled trials, suggest modest cognitive benefits from raising blood ketone levels through MCT-based interventions in Alzheimer's dementia.
Broader adoption of ketone-generating interventions has been slowed, in part, by concerns about LDL cholesterol.

But what does the evidence actually show?

Dr. Mary Newport reviewed 26 coconut oil trials and found consistent increases in HDL, decreases in triglycerides, and a very inconsistent impact on LDL.

Itโ€™s important to point out that coconut and MCT oil are not cures for Alzheimerโ€™s.

But they may be able to help, and in the context of limited effective options and generally low risk, coconut or MCT oil may be worth consideration.

The data is early but there is a signal here that increasing ketone availability to the brainโ€™s of individuals living with dementia is worth further exploration

Coconut oil (CNO) is often characterized as an โ€œartery-clogging fatโ€ because it is a predominantly saturated fat that ostensibly raises total cholesterol (TChol) and LDL cholesterol (LDL-C). Whereas previous analyses assessed CNO based on the relative effects on lipid parameters against other fa...

A bee product killed the SUPERBUG that KILLS people in hospitals. Itโ€™s not honey.

Propolis.

Most supplements contain one or two active compounds. Propolis contains over 300.

Bees donโ€™t eat it. They coat every surface of the hive with it. Kills bacteria, viruses, and fungi on contact. Nothing gets in. Itโ€™s the hiveโ€™s immune system.

During WWII, field medics ran out of antibiotics. They packed open wounds with propolis. It worked.

It kills drug-resistant bacteria including MRSA. It inhibits influenza and herpes. It kills candida. It reduces inflammatory markers in human trials. It even triggers cancer cells to self-destruct in lab studies.

That cold you keep catching. The candida you canโ€™t shake. The gut inflammation that wonโ€™t calm down.

Your immune system isnโ€™t weak. Itโ€™s unsupported.
