Today, my business baby turns 4. ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿ™

When I look at her now, I don't just see a business.๐Ÿ’ซ๐ŸŒฑ

I see answered prayers.๐Ÿ™
I see perseverance.๐Ÿ™Œ
I see God's grace.โš“๏ธ

I see four years of learning, stretching, falling, getting back up and continuing.๐Ÿฆ‹โš“๏ธ

So if you're in the beginning stages of something right now, a business, a dream, a calling, a new chapter, keep on believing in your dream, in your abilities and trust the process. But most importantly keep the faith.

Four years later, I am still learning. Still growing. Still trusting. Still building.๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒท

And just like a child at fourโ€ฆ we are only getting started.๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜‰

Happy 4th birthday, Papilio Play Therapy Services!๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ™Œ

I wasn't just building a business. I was raising something I believed in!๐Ÿ™Œ

And just like a baby eventually takes those first steps away from you, Papilio had to find her own feet. Moving into my own office January 2025 was scary, but it was also a beautiful sign of growth, she was ready for her next developmental stage.๐Ÿ˜€

And just as a child becoming more independent, discovering who they are, asking questions, exploring the world and building confidence.๐Ÿ‘ฃ

A child doesnโ€™t simply wake up one day knowing how to walk, communicate, regulate emotions or navigate the world.๐ŸŒฟ

They learn through experiences.
They fall.
They try again.
They need support.
They discover their strengths.
And slowly, they grow into who they are becoming.๐ŸŒท๐Ÿฆ‹

Papilio has been much the same. 2025 brought growth, challenges, sleepless nights, stretching, learning and moments of wondering, โ€œAm I doing this right?โ€ I had to figure out what Papilio needed to grow, when to push, when to slow down, when to protect her and when to let her explore. There were milestones worth celebrating. There were difficult seasons. There were moments of doubt. But I kept showing up.๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ™

Because when you give birth to something you believe in, you don't give up just because it gets hard.๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’ซ

There were moments when I had to keep going without seeing the outcome. I had to keep showing up when the room is quiet. I had to believe before there is evidence.๐ŸŒฑโš“๏ธ

I had to learn to trust myself.
To make difficult decisions.
To handle disappointment.
To let go of expectations.
To step outside of what was comfortable.
To find my voice.๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒธ

And most importantly, to strengthen my faith.
But God kept on being faithful, placing the right people in my life. People who roots for me, who believes in Papilio, who prays with me and reminds me of what I am capable of when I cannot see it myself.๐Ÿ’

Through this journey I can say I`ve tasted and seen the goodness of God. โš“๏ธ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿ™Œ

Birthday countdown!!

โ€œTerrible twosโ€

After experiencing yet another significant loss in November 2023, the loss of my mother. I did what most people do, supress, don`t think, don`t feel, move on, survive. Little did I know that as God was building my business, He was also building, moulding, developing and growing me. โš“๏ธ๐Ÿ’ซ

I injured myself on a hike April 2024. And this injury made me look inward, reflect, and realise what needs to change and what areas of my life needs to be healed. We get emotional scars and injuries in our life, which creates believes or copings systems, that`s not healthy for our overall emotional wellbeing. Awareness is the first step to changing unhealthy patterns and believes systems to healthy ones. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒˆ

This is where my work with clients at Papilio begins, creating a safe space to become aware, explore what is underneath the behaviour, understand the patterns that have shaped us, and gently work towards change.๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒท

Just like the โ€œpapilioโ€ butterfly, transformation doesn't happen overnight. There is a process of growing, shedding what no longer serves us, sitting in the uncomfortable places and eventually emerging into something new. I had to sit in an uncomfortable place of realising that a past incident, caused a moment of feeling embarrass, hurt, angry and sad. This moment of hurt led me to believe that I should do everything on my own and deny help from other people. I had to shed these beliefs because they no longer served me.๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ’ช

And in every season God is faithful, even the season of refining fire. I can see now that God was never only building Papilio. He was building me too.๐Ÿ™

And maybe that is the real journey, becoming the person capable of carrying what I prayed for.๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ’ซโš“๏ธ

It`s only crazy until it happens!๐Ÿ˜Œ

I always loved working with children and being a โ€˜semi-perfectionistโ€™ I thrive on seeing clients making positive changes in their lives and going from distress to in control and content. This was the main motivator for me to start my own private practice. A dream that was planted in my heart in 2012. A little seed of something I couldn't yet see, but knew I had to nurture. ๐ŸŒฑ

Ten years later this dream was born. Papilio was born during a season of my life where I was already carrying so much. The loss of my father in June 2022. One of the biggest losses of my life. Realizing this dream, establishing the business (the private practice) was definitely not easy. The stretching, uncertainty, sacrifice, hard work and moments of doubt felt overwhelming, scary and exciting all at the same time. ๐ŸŒˆ

And just like becoming a mother, becoming a business owner does not always come with a manual. You prepare as much as you can, but once the baby arrives, you learn as you go. The first year was messy. Beautiful. Exhausting. Exciting. Full of learning. Some days felt effortless and others felt like pure survival. But every day I kept nurturing โ€˜my babyโ€. An everyday God was faithful. ๐Ÿ™

And just like having a baby, I had so many expectations. I imagined support. I imagined people cheering me on. I imagined that if I worked hard, showed up and gave my best, people would automatically believe in what I was building. But some expectations didn't become reality.๐Ÿ’”

There were disappointments.
People I thought would support me didn't.
Doors I thought would open, didn't.
Moments where I questioned whether this was really going to work.๐Ÿ˜”

Looking back, I don't know how I carried it all.
But I do know this: My faith was stretched to the next level (PS: There`s levels to faith)๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿคญ

I had to trust God when things didn't make sense. I had to learn that people's support is not the foundation of what God has called me to build. I had to learn how to stand firm on the promises of God. I had to learn that you cannot always expect people to see what God has placed inside of you.โš“๏ธ๐Ÿ’ซ

Most importantly I had to constantly remind myself you cannot rush growth. You can only nurture it.๐Ÿฆ‹

Because sometimes the thing that feels small in your hands today is only small because it's still growing.๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒท๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ™Œ

Womenโ€™s Day is always a good reminder that giving back doesnโ€™t have to be something big. Sometimes itโ€™s simply making time, showing up and letting someone know that they matter.

Coffee, conversations and a few laughs definitely a good way to connect. โ˜•๏ธ๐ŸŒธ
