“There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.”
— Leonard Cohen
October is Mental Health Awareness Month. 💚
A reminder that our mental health deserves the same care, attention and compassion as our physical health.
More people experience mental health challenges than we often realise. Sometimes it looks obvious. Sometimes it doesn’t. And sometimes, the person who seems to have everything together is quietly finding things really difficult.
Life can leave us with a few cracks along the way. And while we may not see it in the moment, sometimes those difficult experiences can become places where growth, resilience, self-awareness, connection or even unexpected beauty can emerge.
That doesn’t mean we have to romanticise hardship or pretend that difficult times are easy. It simply means that a difficult chapter doesn’t have to define the whole story.
You don’t have to be strong all the time.
You don’t have to have all the answers.
And you don’t have to figure everything out on your own.
There is help. There is support. And there is no shame in needing either.
If you’re struggling, reaching out to someone you trust or connecting with professional support can be an important first step. In South Africa, SADAG’s Su***de Crisis Helpline is available 24/7 on 0800 567 567.
And sometimes looking after our mental wellbeing can also mean making space to pause, connect, create, reflect and simply breathe.
Throughout October, FlowWell and M.Power Movement will be creating opportunities to do just that through wellbeing-focused events. 🌿✨
Keep discovering you.
Make space for your wellbeing.
