With the most exquisite views over Pietermaritzburg, Villa Assumpta is a small community of 60 seniors residing in Wembley, a northern suburb of Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The beautiful, little chapel, tranquil gardens and spacious grounds of this estate provide a feeling of a sanctuary in the city for those looking to live with board and lodging or independently. There are communal lounges, dining rooms and outdoor areas where residents can socialise with one another as desired. Recreational activities include games hour, movie afternoons, as well as gardening. Our residents are encouraged to customise the rooms and make them their own. We have double and single ensuite rooms available. Some of these offer kitchenettes or verandahs as well. Villa Assumpta was run by the Oakford Congregation of Dominican Sisters for many years. Whilst is it now managed by PADCA, the ethos of care and warmth created by the Sisters has continued. Villa Siena, adjacent to Villa Assumpta, is still home to Sisters who have retired from active ministry, and who attend regular services in the chapel and visit the residents.

When older adults need a full range of support (physical, psychological and social) we recommend a move to one of our Care Centres. Here, residents are invited to make the space their home. The gardens and lounges are great spaces in which to enjoy nature and community. We encourage residents to pursue interests, have family and friends to visit and go on outings. We tailor programmes and activities according to each person's interests to help promote their independence and support their physical and cognitive abilities while enjoying their passions and hobbies.

With a nursing team around the clock and on-site security, you can relax knowing that you have access to the kind or level of support needed.

We see residents thrive as they become part of the community. They feel connected and, with the assistance of both staff and other residents, they join in. In many instances, we see them become increasingly independent. It's a new beginning.
