[AUDIO CLIPS] AmaZulu FC were crowned the 2026 Premier's Cup champions after defeating Milford FC 2-0 in the final at Princess Magogo Stadium, on Sunday 26 July 2026.

Awarding the Premier's Cup to AmaZulu, KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli, praised the Premier's Cup for boosting the township and rural economies.

"The Premier's Cup benefits hawkers who sell their wares during the game.

"The hospitality industry also reaps economic rewards as hotels accommodate people from afar to watch games.

"Most importantly, sport unite communities by eradicating crime and forging social cohesion," said Premier Ntuli.

The Premier concluded his interview by saying that he had instructed to promote sport in townships and rural areas to discourage crime, drug and alcohol abuse and other scourges facing societies.

PREMIER NTULI LAUNCHES AYIHLALE PHANSI IBAMBE UMTHETHO PROGRAMME IN GAUTENG.

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, accompanied by the Director-General, Ms Nokuthula Khanyile, and the Acting Head of Department for Community Safety and Liaison, Ms Funi Makhanya, officially launched the "Ayihlale Phansi Ibambe Umthetho Programme" at Buyafuthi Hostel in Gauteng.

The programme was launched during the Hostel Cleansing Ceremony, a joint initiative of the KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng Provincial Governments aimed at restoring peace, safety and stability in hostels. During the launch, Premier Ntuli announced uMtwan' uKinobho as the Coordinator of the Ayihlale Phansi Ibambe Umthetho Programme, which will be commemorated annually during the month of July.

The Hostel Cleansing Ceremony forms part of a broader social cohesion and crime prevention initiative designed to restore the values of ubuntu, reconciliation, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among hostel residents. It also seeks to reclaim hostels as safe places to live by strengthening partnerships between government, traditional leadership, law enforcement agencies, community structures and residents.

Premier Ntuli emphasised that the Programme is a call to action for communities to reject criminality, uphold the rule of law, and work together to build safer, more united communities.

PREMIER NTULI AND PREMIER LESUFI TO LEAD HOSTEL CLEANSING CEREMONY IN GAUTENG

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, together with the Premier of Gauteng, Honourable Panyaza Lesufi, will on Saturday, 25 July 2026, lead a large-scale hostel cleansing ceremony at Buyafuthi Hostel in Ekuthuleni, Gauteng.

The ceremony follows a series of engagements between the Governments of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, Amakhosi aseNdlunkulu, and other key stakeholders aimed at addressing longstanding challenges affecting hostels in Gauteng.

These engagements identified a number of pressing concerns, including the persistent killing of hostel residents, violent crime, gang-related activities, and the proliferation of criminality within some hostels. The two provincial governments have committed to implementing coordinated interventions to restore peace, stability, and dignity in these communities.

The hostel cleansing ceremony forms part of a broader social cohesion and crime prevention initiative intended to restore the values of ubuntu, reconciliation, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence among hostel residents. It also seeks to reclaim hostels as safe places to live by fostering stronger partnerships between government, traditional leadership, law enforcement agencies, community structures, and residents.

OPERATION GIJIMA | WEST STREET-DBN COMPLIANCE ENFORCEMENT.

Today, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Community Safety and Liaison joined law enforcement and regulatory partners in Operation Gijima along West Street, Durban, to enforce compliance with business licensing, labour, immigration, environmental health and municipal by-laws.

The multi-agency operation resulted in several non-compliant businesses being closed, counterfeit and expired goods being seized, and cases being referred for further investigation and legal action. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to promote lawful business practices, protect consumers, and strengthen community safety.

The KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Hon. Thamsanqa Ntuli, accompanied by the Acting Head of Department, Ms Funi Makhanya, is attending the MINMEC meeting in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, in his capacity as the Executive Authority for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Community Safety and Liaison.

Chaired by the Minister of Police, the MINMEC brings together Premiers serving as Executive Authorities for Community Safety departments, MECs responsible for Community Safety, Heads of Department, Provincial Secretariats for Police Service, and the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The meeting provides a platform to assess the country's crime landscape, strengthen intergovernmental cooperation, and formulate coordinated strategies aimed at combating crime, enhancing policing, and improving community safety across South Africa.

POSITIVE ROLE MODELS REMAIN THE CORE FOUNDATION FOR STRONGER FAMILIES: PREMIER NTULI

Today, Thursday 23 July, KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli convened a Provincial Men's Programme under the theme " Silwa Nechilo", at the Nqabeni Community Hall, Vulindlela under Msunduzi Local Municipality.

The overaching message emphasized the importance of building positive male role models in our society to help build stronger, united and loving family units.

Various speakers highlighted an urgent need for men to address mental health issues without fear of being shamed and ridiculed by society.

The honorable Premier reiterated calls for you boys and men to adopt a positive mindset and fully accept their role of protecting women, children and the elderly. Especially, protecting them from acts Gender-Based violence and Femicide.
