🌍Today’s spectacular event marks yet another incredible milestone for Biovac, as we continue expediting the advancement of African vaccine manufacturing, and strengthening the continent’s long-term health security and pandemic resilience.
We were honoured to host a key ministerial delegation, including the Honourable Minister of the Department of Trade and Industry, Mr. Parks Tau, and his Director-General Mr. Simphiwe Hamilton, Director-General of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation Dr. Mlungisi Cele, and Chairperson of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Mr. David McAllister, alongside government leaders, funders, strategic partners, and members of the diplomatic community to Cape Town.
The visit to Biovac, also including representatives of South Africa’s biotechnology ecosystem, marked keynote discussions, tours of our 15 Alexandra Road facility, and concluded with a ceremonial soil-turning moment for Biovac’s future greenfield manufacturing facility currently being built at Diesel Road - a significant step forward in expanding local vaccine manufacturing capability and strengthening pharmaceutical production in South Africa.
