Growing up comes with a lot of changes and a lot of questions. We had such a special morning at Wynberg Girls’ Junior with the Grade 4 girls and their mums, talking all things puberty, periods and growing up. An hour of open conversation, laughter and real questions with mums and daughters learning side by side.

Our goal? For every girl to leave knowing:

✨ My body changing is normal.
✨ I know what to expect.
✨ I can ask questions.
✨ My period is nothing to be embarrassed about.
✨ I have someone I can talk to.

A big thank you to all who joined us and made the morning what it was. Growing up can feel a whole lot less scary when we actually talk about it. 💗

Welcome to Taste Test - where we put the meds you give your kids to the test.

First up: Paracetamol. We tried Calpol, Panado, and Adco-Napamol side by side to see what your kids are actually dealing with.

Same active ingredient, same evidence behind them for fever and pain - the real differences between these three come down to taste and price, and taste is often what determines whether your child actually finishes the dose.

This Menstrual Health Awareness Month, we’re reflecting on the power of conversations around periods.

At the Community Health Day, we spent time with the Joe Slovo community distributing reusable pads and menstrual cups but what stayed with us most were the conversations - around periods, bodies, questions, myths, and shared experiences.

A reminder that menstrual health is not only about products. It’s also about knowledge, access, and having spaces where people feel comfortable enough to ask, learn, and be heard.

On Saturday, we spent the day at the Impilo Community Health Day in Joe Slovo having conversations around periods, our bodies, and menstrual health.

Alongside education and open discussions, we were also able to distribute reusable pads and menstrual cups to girls and women in the community.

Period poverty is about far more than just access to products. Many women and girls still cannot afford or access menstrual products, safe sanitation, and reliable menstrual health education. In South Africa, an estimated 83% of girl learners lack consistent access to menstrual hygiene products, and one in four girls misses school every month because they do not have safe and accessible products.

One of the most powerful parts of the day was simply creating space for honest, stigma-free conversations about bodies, periods, and menstrual health.

A huge thank you to the and for the incredible work they are doing to bring healthcare directly into communities. The scale of the day was truly inspiring, with over 500 patients receiving access to 17 different medical and support services - an incredible feat made possible by collaboration, dedication, and community-centred care.

We would also like to sincerely thank for partnering with us on the day, matching our purchase of reusable menstrual cups, and sending two volunteers to support our stand and engage with girls and women in the community.

We’re deeply grateful to be part of such a meaningful initiative 🫶🏽

An afternoon spent talking periods, puberty, stigma, and empowerment with the amazing Health Champions from The Impilo Project.

The more we normalise conversations around menstrual health, the more we create safe spaces for young girls to ask questions, understand their bodies, and access the support they deserve.

We also had important conversations around period poverty and the barriers many girls still face when it comes to accessing menstrual products and education.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn from one another and for the work these community healthcare workers continue to do every day. As part of this work, we’ll be continuing regular sessions with these Health Champions, as well as running workshops with learners at Marconi Beam Primary School.

We’re currently looking to partner with organisations or brands who can support this initiative through the sponsorship of reusable menstrual products - helping us improve access and create more sustainable, long-term impact for girls in these communities.
