The new home for our donated Koi

The 7 donated Koi arrived at their forever home today at Sandown's Pond number 3. The professional Fish Funactics arrived with them this afternoon in a tank, which then had pond water added to it to acclimatise them before lowering them into the pond, one by one. They are now settled in and swimming about but still keeping close to each other.

Sandown residents were treated to an afternoon of a variety of readings of poetry and literature by some its talented residents. Our centenarian resident, Polly Somerville, was star of the afternoon with her 2 very amusing readings.

Our Sandown Arts Committee is organising an art exhibition of the work of the internationally renowned artist, Roz Cryer, on Saturday 12 September.

Our Circle Park is a place where friends can meet or residents can simply rest a while. It is maintained with living care by a one of our residents.

The herons in our circle near the Sandown Villsge entrance have been repainted and the circle is also looking very colourful with the aloes in flower. Thanks to our hard working Garden Committee.

Family members and friends visiting residents can be accommodated in Sandown's very popular and comfortable Guest Cottage. The daily rates are very reasonable and it includes breakfast.

Some exciting news!! The Art and Decor Committee are organising another Art Exhibition on Saturday 12 September. To raise funds for the Exhibition, these beautiful watercolors are being raffled at R20 a ticket. They have been donated to Sandown by the well-known artist, Cath Stempowski, and the framing of them was donated by Stepping Stones Studio. Raffle tickets are being sold to residents and the Art community and friends outside Sandown, by members of the Art & Decor and the Entertainment Committee. These landscape watercolors are on view in the foyer of the Amenities Centre.
