Growth plate injuries account for approximately 15–30% of fractures in children.

These injuries occur in areas of developing bone, which are often more vulnerable to stress.

Research also shows they are most common during periods of rapid growth, particularly between ages 11–16.

✨ Early management supports healthy recovery and safe return to activity.

Physical activity plays a critical role in childhood development β€” yet less than 30% of children meet recommended daily activity guidelines.

Regular movement supports bone strength, coordination, cardiovascular health, and overall physical development. It also contributes to confidence, social participation, and long-term wellbeing.

Research shows that active habits established during childhood are more likely to continue into adulthood, highlighting the importance of exercise early on.

Previous injury is one of the strongest predictors of future injury in young athletes.

Research shows that returning to sport without full rehabilitation can leave ongoing deficits in strength and control, increasing re-injury risk by up to 4 times.

Rehabilitation is not just about recovery. It plays an important role in improving long-term performance and confidence in movement.

✨ Rehabilitation builds resilient athletes

Did you know cerebral palsy affects approximately 2–3 per 1,000 children globally?

It is classified as a non-progressive neurological condition, meaning the initial brain injury does not worsen over time. However, functional abilities can change as a child develops.

Current evidence supports early, task-specific intervention to optimise motor outcomes and participation.

Research also shows progressive resistance training can lead to ~20–40% increases in muscle strength, without increasing spasticity.

✨ The focus of therapy is to maximise each child’s potential uniquely.

Amazing experience being part of the Hydrotherapy course and another awesome tool added to the toolbox for paediatric treatment!

For those unfamiliar with the above, Hydrotherapy is a form of physiotherapy conducted in a heated pool, where the properties and benefits of water are utilized with the knowledge and skill of the physiotherapist to improve the outcome of the rehabilitation process. This involves individual assessment, diagnosis and the use of clinical reasoning to formulate a treatment programme appropriate for the patient.

Various research have concluded benefits such as:

- Improved range of motion and decreased spasticity.
- Increased muscle strength and endurance.
- Improved circulation and reduction in swelling.
- Improved stability, balance and co-ordination.
- Improved respiration and cardiovascular properties.

So simple yet so effective πŸ™ŒπŸ½
