🫁 TB — still a real threat to our children.
Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by a bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. While adults often get lung TB, children under 5 can develop a deadly form called miliary TB — where the bacteria spreads through the bloodstream to the brain, spine, and kidneys.
⚠️ Without treatment, TB meningitis leaves many children with permanent brain damage or death.
✅ The BCG vaccine is given at birth at every government clinic in South Africa — FREE. It offers strong protection against severe TB in young children.
Make sure your baby gets their BCG on the day of birth! 👶
