💛 Does Your Baby Really Have Colic?

One of the biggest myths I hear from new parents is:

"My baby has colic."

The truth is... most babies DON'T.

In fact, only about 20% of babies meet the medical criteria for true colic.

Many babies who are labelled as "colicky" are actually struggling with:
👶 Feeding difficulties
🍼 Wind
💗 Reflux
😴 Overtiredness or overstimulation
🤱 An ineffective latch or feeding technique

These are often problems that can be identified and corrected.

So what is true colic?

Doctors use what's called the Rule of Threes:
✔ Starts around 3 weeks of age
✔ Crying lasts for 3 hours or more
✔ Happens at the same time every day for at least 3 days a week
✔ Continues for 3 weeks or longer
✔ Usually settles by 3 months of age

If your baby's crying doesn't fit this pattern, it may be something else—and that means it may be treatable.

🚫 Please don't assume your baby simply needs colic medication. Many products only mask the symptoms instead of addressing the real cause.

As a Registered Midwife, Lactation Consultant, Infant Feeding Specialist and Baby Sleep Consultant, I assess your baby's feeding, growth and behaviour to find the root cause of the crying.

Often, small changes to feeding can make a huge difference—without medication.
