🤱 B R E A S T F E E D I N G W E E K 🤱🏾

Breastfeeding is a beautiful way to nourish your baby, but it’s important to remember that your nutrition matters too.

During breastfeeding, your body works hard to produce milk while recovering from pregnancy and birth. Eating regular, balanced meals, staying hydrated and including a variety of nutrient-rich foods can help support your health, energy and overall wellbeing.

Every breastfeeding journey is unique. Whether you breastfeed for weeks, months or longer, you deserve support and compassion every step of the way.

💛 Save this post for later and share it with a breastfeeding mom who might need this reminder.

Warm breakfasts are a delicious way to start the day - especially on these chilly winter mornings.

A balanced breakfast can help provide steady energy, improve concentration, and keep you feeling satisfied throughout the morning. The key is to include protein, fibre, healthy fats and colourful fruits or vegetables to create a meal that nourishes both your body and your appetite.

Whether you enjoy a bowl of oats, eggs on toast or a veggie-packed omelette, there are plenty of simple ways to make breakfast both nutritious and satisfying.

Strong bones are built every day, not just when you’re older.

Bone health depends on much more than drinking milk. A balanced diet, enough protein, vitamin D, calcium, regular exercise, and healthy lifestyle habits all work together to keep your skeleton strong.

Whether you’re a child building peak bone mass, an adult maintaining bone strength, or older and wanting to reduce fracture risk, it’s never too early or too late to invest in your bone health.

Want to improve your sleep? Start with your plate!

While there’s no magic food that guarantees a perfect night’s sleep, your overall eating pattern can make a real difference. Nutrients like magnesium, calcium, omega-3 fats and tryptophan all play a role in supporting healthy sleep, while regular meals and balanced snacks can help keep your body and mind on track.

Remember, sleep and nutrition work together. Poor sleep can increase hunger hormones and cravings, while good nutrition can support more restful sleep.

Prioritise both, and your body will thank you.

Recovery starts with your post-run nutrition 🏃‍♀️🥣

What you eat after a run is just as important as the run itself. Pair carbohydrates + protein to replenish energy, support muscle repair, and help you recover stronger for your next session.

Supporting your immune system isn’t about finding one magic food, it’s about building consistent habits that nourish your body every day.

A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, wholegrains, protein, healthy fats and fluids provides the nutrients your immune system needs to function at its best🍊🥚🥦💧

Key nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, protein and fibre all play important roles in supporting immune health, but no single food or supplement can replace an overall healthy eating pattern.

Small daily choices matter:
✔️ Include colourful fruit and vegetables
✔️ Add a protein source to meals
✔️ Choose high-fibre foods
✔️ Stay hydrated
✔️ Eat regularly and enough to meet your body’s needs

Remember: a healthy immune system is supported by your overall lifestyle, not one “superfood.”

Strength training and nutrition go hand in hand

Building strength isn’t just about lifting weights, it’s about fuelling your body to perform, recover, and thrive. From stronger bones and better metabolic health to improved confidence and daily function, strength training offers benefits far beyond the gym.

Remember:
🥖 Carbs fuel your workouts
🥚 Protein supports recovery and muscle repair
🥑 Healthy fats support overall health
💧 Hydration keeps you performing at your best

And let’s bust a few myths:
❌ Lifting weights won’t make you bulky
❌ Cardio isn’t the only path to weight loss
❌ Protein shakes aren’t essential for building muscle

Train smart. Fuel well. Recover better. Your body deserves all three!

Soup season is here! But not all soups are created equal.

A warm bowl of soup can be nourishing, satisfying, and comforting on a cold day, but the nutritional value can vary significantly depending on the ingredients.

When choosing a soup, don’t just look at the calories, consider the protein content too. A higher-protein option can make a more balanced and satisfying meal, especially if you’re looking to support muscle health, manage hunger, or maintain energy levels throughout the day.

👉 Swipe through to compare the calorie and protein content of different soups and see how your favourite stacks up!

Winter weight changes are normal ❄️

As the weather gets colder, our routines often shift. We may move less, crave warmer comfort meals, drink less water, or spend more time indoors. These changes can influence your weight, but they do not mean you are doing something wrong.

Your body is not meant to look or weigh exactly the same every single day, season or year.

Instead of focusing only on the scale, try to focus on nourishing your body, eating regular meals, staying hydrated, moving in a way that feels good, and being kind to yourself.

Small changes are normal.

7 June marks Cancer Survivors Day. It’s a day to honour those living with and beyond cancer, and to recognise the ongoing journey of recovery, healing and survivorship.

Nutrition can play an important role after cancer treatment by supporting strength, maintaining muscle mass, managing side effects and improving quality of life. However, there is no perfect “cancer diet”, and survivors should not feel pressured by restrictive food rules or misinformation.

A registered dietitian can help create an individualised nutrition plan based on your symptoms, treatment history, appetite, weight changes and health goals.

Today we celebrate every cancer survivor: your strength, your story and your journey.
