Together, We Walk. Together, We Make a Difference.

Bayradiology is proud to be a sponsor of the Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer - an event that brings our community together in support of those whose lives have been affected by cancer.

We were honoured to have Dr. Sharon de K**k and Dr. Anstea Meyer attend the official launch on behalf of Bayradiology as we prepare to be part of this important community initiative.

Supporting events that raise awareness, inspire hope, and bring people together is something we value. We are proud to stand alongside our community in support of those affected by cancer and the ongoing efforts to create awareness and encourage hope.

Every step makes a difference. Join us at the Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer.

What Is an Ultrasound KUB?

When investigating symptoms affecting the urinary system, an Ultrasound KUB is often one of the first imaging examinations requested by your healthcare provider.

KUB stands for Kidneys, Ureters and Bladder. Using sound waves, this non-invasive examination provides real-time images of these organs without exposing you to ionising radiation.

An Ultrasound KUB may be recommended to help assess:

- Kidney stones
- Urinary tract obstruction
- Blood in the urine (haematuria)
- Recurrent urinary tract infections
- Flank or lower abdominal pain
- Kidney swelling (hydronephrosis)
- Bladder abnormalities and urinary retention

The examination also allows healthcare practitioners to evaluate the size, shape and appearance of the kidneys and bladder, helping to identify changes that may require further investigation or treatment.

An Ultrasound KUB is generally painless, does not require needles or injections, and is suitable for patients of all ages. Depending on the reason for the examination, you may be asked to arrive with a comfortably full bladder to improve visualisation.

At Bayradiology, our experienced sonographers and radiologists are committed to providing high-quality diagnostic imaging to support accurate diagnosis and guide your healthcare journey.

Please note: An Ultrasound KUB is performed on referral from your treating healthcare practitioner, who will discuss the results with you in the context of your symptoms and medical history.

On this Mandela Day, we are reminded that each of us has the power to make a difference.

Small acts of kindness, compassion and service can create a lasting impact.

At Bayradiology, we are proud to support a culture of care—not only in the patients we serve, but also within the communities we call home. Together, let us honour Nelson Mandela's legacy by making a positive difference, one act of kindness at a time.

Happy Mandela Day.

Small Acts of Kindness. A Lasting Difference.

For many years, the Bayradiology Mercantile branch has embraced a special winter tradition of giving back to the community.

Each year, staff members come together to collect blankets, beanies, socks, toiletries, and other essential items to help bring comfort to those in need. Some team members also knit blankets by hand, adding a personal touch to the donations.

While the initiative has evolved over time, its purpose has remained the same—to share warmth, kindness, and compassion with others.

This year, the Mercantile branch had the privilege of donating these much-needed items to Gelvan Park Frail Aged Home. We hope these contributions bring comfort during the colder months and serve as a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.

A sincere thank you to every member of our Mercantile branch who contributed to this initiative.

Supporting Healthcare Through Knowledge

Bayradiology was proud to support Netcare Cuyler Hospital's Wellness Days over two informative days dedicated to healthcare education.

Our team had the opportunity to engage with healthcare professionals, providing information on diagnostic imaging services, including MRI, CT scans, mammography, bone density examinations and other imaging procedures. It was a valuable opportunity to answer questions, discuss referral processes, and share information about the important role diagnostic imaging plays in modern healthcare.

We thank Netcare Cuyler Hospital for the opportunity to participate in this initiative. Ongoing education and professional engagement contribute to high standards of healthcare and help ensure that patients continue to receive informed, coordinated care.

Congratulations to the multidisciplinary team at Netcare Greenacres Hospital on receiving the World Stroke Organisation (WSO) Angels Gold Award for the first quarter of 2026.

This prestigious international recognition reflects the high standard of stroke care delivered at Netcare Greenacres Hospital, where coordinated clinical pathways, rapid decision-making and timely intervention are essential to achieving positive outcomes for patients experiencing acute stroke.

At Bayradiology, we are privileged to contribute to this process through the provision of urgent CT imaging, which plays a critical role in the early assessment and management of suspected stroke. Accurate and timely diagnostic imaging supports treating clinicians in making informed treatment decisions when every minute counts. We acknowledge and thank our radiographers, radiologists and support staff for their contribution to the delivery of timely diagnostic imaging, which remains an essential component of effective stroke care.

We extend our sincere congratulations to the doctors, nurses, allied healthcare professionals and support teams at Netcare Greenacres Hospital for this outstanding achievement and their continued focus on delivering exceptional patient care.

Could a Spinal Injury Be More Serious Than It Appears?

Not all spinal injuries are immediately obvious. Following a fall, motor vehicle accident, sports injury, or other traumatic event, some people may experience symptoms such as neck or back pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, or difficulty moving.

When a spinal injury is suspected, medical practitioners may request a CT scan to help assess the spine and identify injuries that may require urgent medical attention.

CT imaging provides detailed images that can assist healthcare professionals in making informed decisions about further investigation, treatment, and ongoing care.

If you have experienced trauma and are concerned about symptoms involving your neck, back, or limbs, it is important to seek medical advice promptly.

At Bayradiology, our radiographers and radiologists are committed to providing high-quality diagnostic imaging to support the healthcare journey of every patient.

Happy Youth Day, South Africa.

At Bayradiology, we celebrate the young people whose ideas, talent, and drive continue to shape the future of our country.

Today also reminds us of the spirit of Ubuntu — the understanding that we grow stronger as a nation when we support, respect, and uplift one another.

As we reflect on the significance of this day, we acknowledge the contribution that young people make to our communities, workplaces, and society through their innovation, leadership, and vision.

May we continue to create opportunities that enable the next generation to thrive and reach their full potential.
