Medical Forum Theatre – the Eastern Cape’s first private day hospital – has a longstanding history within the metro. Founded during the 1960’s by Dr Johan du Toit (now retired), its legacy continues to avail general theatre space to other medical practitioners for day case surgeries. The team of medical professionals at the Eye and Laser Institute set out to create a Centre of Excellence for Ophthalmology care in the Eastern Cape through the Eye and Laser Institute, with a strong focus on day surgery.

“The entire value chain is focused on efficiency and quality nursing care,” said Dr Andries Marais, managing director. Uncompromising service and high quality nursing care ensures that patients are discharged within three to four hours, depending on the procedure. In addition to the ease of not having to stay for a long period of time, patients also find the experience of entering the Medical Forum Theatre less daunting than a large hospital. We are proud to announce that Dr Grobler (Urologist) has successfully performed the first Rezūm™ Therapy procedure at Advanced MFT, marking an exciting milestone in the advancement of urological care at our day hospital.

Rezūm™ Therapy is an innovative, minimally invasive treatment for men experiencing symptoms of an enlarged prostate (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia or BPH).
