The Interprovincial Twinning Initiative was initiated by the National Department of Health and formally endorsed by the National Health Council (NHC). The initiative aims to strengthen hospital governance, management capability and accountability across South Africa’s public health sector.
The programme allows hospitals from different provinces to learn from each other, identify areas for improvement and share practices that can contribute to better service delivery and patient care.
The programme included breakaway sessions with various departments, walkabouts and discussions between the Chief Executive Officers. These sessions provided an opportunity for the teams to learn about the operations, systems, and practices of the respective institutions.
