⚡️ Your body should be able to switch gears. After a meal, your body mainly uses glucose (sugar) for energy. Between meals, overnight, or during exercise, it should gradually switch to burning stored fat. A healthy metabolism moves smoothly between these fuel sources. If it struggles it means you have poor metabolic flexibility.
💡 What does it feel like?
You might notice:
• Energy crashes between meals.
• Feeling hungry again soon after eating.
• Constant cravings for snacks.
• Difficulty losing body fat.
• Feeling tired or sluggish.
This happens when the body struggles to access stored fat for energy and becomes reliant on a steady supply of glucose.
☝🏼 Why Does It Happen?
Poor metabolic flexibility is commonly linked to insulin resistance, excess visceral (belly) fat, physical inactivity, chronic stress and poor sleeping habits. Over time, the body becomes less efficient at responding to changing energy demands.
💪🏼 How you can improve it.
Regular exercise, building muscle, improving sleep, and managing stress are all strategies that we employ at Nieuw-Metabolism to help you improve your metabolic health.
