A new baby brings excitement, joy, and love to your life, but along with that comes sleepless nights, physical recovery, emotional changes, and a whole new routine.

If someone you care about has recently become a mother, your support can make an incredible difference!

Instead of saying, “Let me know if you need anything,” try offering something specific:

💛 Bring a home-cooked meal
💛 Offer to do a load of laundry
💛 Hold the baby while mom showers or rests
💛 Help with older siblings
💛 Check in regularly with a simple message
💛 Listen without judgement
💛 Remind her that she is doing an amazing job

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness become the biggest source of support.

New mothers don’t need perfection. They need encouragement, understanding, and a village that shows up when they need it most!

Let’s continue creating spaces where mothers feel seen, supported, and cared for. 🫶🏻

Tag someone who was an incredible support to you when you were a new mom. 👇

Every birth story is unique, but understanding the stages of labour can help you feel more prepared and confident for the journey ahead.

✨ Early Labour
This is the beginning of labour when contractions start and the cervix begins to soften and dilate. Contractions are usually mild and irregular at first. Many women spend this stage at home, resting, hydrating, and conserving energy.

✨ Active Labour
Contractions become stronger, longer, and more regular. The cervix continues to dilate, and labour progresses more rapidly. This is often the stage when mothers head to their birthing facility.

✨ Transition
The final stage before pushing. Contractions are intense and close together as the cervix reaches full dilation. Although challenging, this phase is usually the shortest and signals that meeting your baby is very close.

✨ Birth and Delivery
Once fully dilated, you will begin pushing with each contraction. Soon, your baby is born and placed into your arms for the very first time a moment you’ll never forget.

Remember, labour looks different for every woman. Trust your body, ask questions, and lean on your support team throughout the process.

Your journey is uniquely yours, and every contraction brings you one step closer to meeting your baby. 💛

Motherhood is often portrayed as one of life’s happiest experiences but for many women, the weeks and months after birth can feel overwhelming, lonely, and emotionally challenging.

While it’s normal to experience mood swings, tearfulness, and emotional sensitivity during the first two weeks after birth (often called the “baby blues”), symptoms that persist or become more intense may indicate postpartum depression.

Some signs to watch for include:
🤍 Persistent sadness or hopelessness
🤍 Frequent crying
🤍 Feeling disconnected from your baby
🤍 Anxiety, panic, or excessive worry
🤍 Difficulty sleeping, even when baby is asleep
🤍 Loss of interest in things you usually enjoy
🤍 Feelings of guilt, inadequacy, or worthlessness

Postpartum depression can affect any mother, regardless of age, background, or previous experience with children.

The most important thing to remember is that help is available. Speaking to your healthcare provider, a counsellor, or a trusted support person can be the first step toward feeling like yourself again.

You deserve support, compassion, and care just as much as your baby does. 💛

What a full and beautiful weekend of birth work. 🤍

On Friday, I spent most of the day with a mommy in labour. By 5pm, she made the decision to transfer to hospital for an epidural. Birth asks so much of a woman. Sometimes strength looks like breathing through one more contraction, and sometimes strength looks like knowing what you need and choosing extra support.

While I was still walking that journey with her, another mommies waters broke… and so Saturday was spent fully in the sacred rhythm of labour again.

This time, it ended in the most beautiful waterbirth. Calm, powerful, and deeply moving.

Two very different birth stories. Two incredibly strong women. Two reminders that birth is not about proving anything. It’s about being supported, respected, and held through whatever path unfolds.

A slightly late post for International Day of the Midwife 🤍

Usually I’d say I was late because I was catching babies… but this year it’s because I’ve been busy with my own two little ones 🤍

Still, what an honour it is to walk alongside women through pregnancy, birth and those first tender days of motherhood. Thank you to every mommy who trusts me with such sacred moments!

And to all the midwives out there..happy International Day of the Midwife!

Birth has a way of reminding us that we are not always in control.

Sometimes everything looks perfect for a vaginal birth...and then a baby decides to come in a way we didn’t plan for. Tonight was one of those nights. After 18 hours of determined labour, we made the decision to transfer for a caesarean section so that baby boy could arrive safely.

In moments like these, we can easily ask why this is happening.
Instead, we choose to say:
God is still good.
Even when birth doesn’t unfold the way we hoped.
Even when the plan changes.
Even when the road looks different to what we imagined.
Ultimately, every safe mother and baby is still a miracle worth celebrating!

This was my 15th birth of 2026 and my first transfer for a caesarean section this year. A reminder that birth is powerful, unpredictable, humbling & always sacred.

A big thank you to doula Natalie for her incredible work throughout the day, and to our backup obstetrician and theatre team who came out in the early hours of the morning to assist when the plan changed. Your care and teamwork make such a difference for families.

As this year comes to an end, my heart is so full.
To every mama who trusted me with her pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey - thank you!
To every family who attended my antenatal classes - thank you for showing up, asking questions, and choosing informed, empowered birth!
And to my incredible village... my backup midwives & gynaes, doulas, birth photographers, pelvic floor physio .health.physio , biokineticist , chiropractors, and every professional I collaborate and refer to - thank you for your skill, care, and teamwork.
To my beautiful family, supporting behind the scenes, I couldn't do it without you!

None of this is done alone.

It truly takes a village to support mothers, babies, and families. I’m so grateful for mine. Wishing you all a beautiful end to 2025 and an even better 2026!

I had planned to leave for holiday on the 18th of October (my daughter's birthday).. A full week away with my family after a long, beautiful, busy season of births. I had one mama still due, and I was so sure her little one would be here before we left.

But at 41 weeks and 4 days, there was still no sign of baby, so I started dealing with the fact that I would not be the one to deliver her baby.

Then, while I was packing, just after midnight - the exact day I was meant to leave - my phone lit up:
“My water just broke.” 💧

Of course. God’s timing, not mine.
I felt such a calm come over me - the kind that only comes from trusting Him fully. Just one hour before I had to leave, her precious baby arrived safely and peacefully. I got to be there. I got to support her. I got to witness God’s perfect timing once again.

I am so deeply grateful for this calling and for the people who walk alongside me in it. A huge thank you to who was a gem as always, supporting during labour &
Sister from , who cared for this beautiful mama during the postpartum period and ensured she was held with the same love and gentleness. Teamwork is everything in birth work, and I am blessed by the women who serve alongside me.

This journey reminded me again:
We can plan our days, but God orders our steps.
Birth unfolds exactly when it is meant to - never early, never late.

Heart full. Holiday officially started. God is good. 🤍✨

Shout-out to , another amazing woman serving families, for this beautiful photo from another birth. There were no pictures taken during this quick birth! 🤣

One of the most fascinating things about newborns is their incredible sense of smell.
From the very first day, your baby can recognize your unique scent and even find their way to the breast by smell alone. 🌸👶

This is why skin-to-skin is so powerful — it helps regulate baby’s heartbeat and breathing, but also reassures them with the smell and warmth of home (that’s you, mama 🤍).

So if you feel like your little one only settles in your arms, remember: you’re not just holding them, you are their safe space. 💕

✨What’s something surprising you noticed about your newborn in those first few weeks?"

✨ A little piece of my heart right here ✨

I can’t stop staring at this beautiful capture of our family when we welcomed our newest little love earlier this year 💛 Thank you Sam for freezing this moment in time so perfectly.

If you’re expecting, I highly recommend booking her — she has such a gift for capturing those raw, first moments and turning them into treasures you’ll keep forever. 📸 And yes...this photo also hangs right above our bed, so I can look at it every night before I go to sleep and be reminded of how utterly blessed I am!

💫 In a single moment, three become four, and love transforms into family.

Birth is the beginning of forever. 🤍👶
