❤️ WHAT YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE NUMBERS ACTUALLY MEAN

Have you ever had your blood pressure checked but weren't quite sure what the numbers meant?

A blood pressure reading is made up of two numbers, and each tells an important part of the story about your heart and circulatory health.

🩺 The top number (Systolic) measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart contracts and pumps blood around your body.

🩺 The bottom number (Diastolic) measures the pressure in your arteries while your heart relaxes between beats.

In general:

✅ Below 120/80 mmHg – Healthy blood pressure

🟡 120–129 / Below 80 – Elevated blood pressure. Healthy lifestyle changes may help reduce your risk of developing high blood pressure.

🟠 130–139 / 80–89 – High Blood Pressure (Stage 1). A medical assessment may be recommended.

🔴 140/90 mmHg or higher – High Blood Pressure. Further evaluation and treatment may be needed.

🚨 180/120 mmHg or higher – This may be a medical emergency and requires urgent medical attention.

🦠 Viral or bacterial? Knowing the difference matters.

Not all infections are treated the same. Viral infections, such as the common cold and influenza, are caused by viruses and typically improve with rest, hydration and symptom management. Antibiotics won't help treat these illnesses.

Bacterial infections, however, are caused by bacteria and may require antibiotics—but only when prescribed by a healthcare professional after an appropriate assessment.

Using antibiotics when they aren't needed won't speed up your recovery and can contribute to antibiotic resistance, making future bacterial infections more difficult to treat.
