Eye pain isn’t always "just eye strain."
If it hurts to move your eyes or your vision suddenly looks like a faded photograph, it’s time to pay attention. For 20% of people with Multiple Sclerosis, these symptoms, known as Optic Neuritis, are the very first warning signs.
What’s actually happening?
MS causes your immune system to attack the protective coating (myelin) of your nerves. When it hits the optic nerve, the connection between your eyes and your brain "shorts out."
The signs you shouldn't ignore:
• Achey eyes: Persistent pain, especially when looking up or sideways.
• Faded colors: Reds looking pink, grey, or "washed out."
• The "Fog": Sudden blurring or a dark spot in the center of your vision, usually in just one eye.
The good news? Medical criteria updated in 2024 now allow doctors to use these eye symptoms to diagnose MS much faster than before.
Don't wait for "more symptoms" to show up. If your vision is changing, get it checked. Early action is the best way to protect your long-term health. 🎗️
