Meet Adri, one of our dedicated Surgical Assistants and an important part of our surgical team.

Adri plays an essential role in ensuring that our procedures are carefully prepared and that our surgical team is fully supported before, during and after each procedure.

Whether it is a theatre procedure or a local procedure in our surgery room, Adri helps prepare patient files, surgical documentation, instruments, materials and everything required to ensure that each procedure is organised and ready before our patients arrive.

Her role also extends to post-operative care and aftercare preparation. Adri assists with preparing aftercare for our theatre patients and helps with post-operative follow-up, ensuring that patients receive the necessary guidance, support and care during their recovery.

With her exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail and caring nature, Adri is an important part of creating a smooth and reassuring experience for our patients and supporting our entire surgical team.

Dr Henning van Wyk breaks down what happens when you lose one tooth, several, or all of them:

- One tooth missing? A single implant is usually the go to solution, restoring both function and appearance.

- Losing all your teeth? Over time the jawbone naturally resorbs, meaning it shrinks and loses density. If enough bone remains, a fixed denture can be secured on top of implants, giving you a stable, permanent alternative to a removable denture.

Worried about the procedure itself? Most oral surgeries, including wisdom teeth removal and implant placement, can be done under local anaesthetic. You stay awake and alert throughout. For more complex cases, treatment is performed in theatre under general anaesthetic, so you’re fully asleep and comfortable.

With over 17 years as a general dentist before specialising, Dr van Wyk brings a rare depth of experience to Maxillo, Facial and Oral Surgery. He holds a BChD, MSc, DipOdont, MDent, and FCMFOS from Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University, the result of five additional years of hospital based surgical training beyond dental school.

He is a full member of the SA Society of Maxillo, Facial and Oral Surgeons and the International Team for Implantology, and is fully registered with the HPCSA.
Today, his practice focuses on facial reconstruction, orthognathic (jaw) surgery, trauma care, and dental implants, giving patients specialist care backed by decades of clinical insight.
