Welcoming Global Leaders in Eye Health to Mpudulle Eye Centre
On 29 July 2026, we had the distinct honour of welcoming an esteemed delegation of global leaders in eye health to our facility in Pretoria. Among the distinguished guests were Dr Kunle Hassan, Dr Stephen McLeod, Dr Mzulungile Nodikida, and many other respected professionals who share our commitment to advancing excellence in vision care across Africa and the world.
Founded by Dr Kgaogelo Legodi and Dr Tshego Legodi, Mpudulle Eye Centre continues to grow as a centre of excellence in ophthalmology, delivering world-class specialist eye care through innovation, advanced technology, and a patient-centred approach.
We were especially privileged to host Former First Lady Mma Bongi Ngema-Zuma, a passionate advocate for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), particularly diabetes. Her visit highlighted the importance of raising awareness about the growing burden of diabetes and its complications, including diabetic retinopathy—one of the leading causes of preventable blindness worldwide. Together with global eye health leaders and healthcare professionals, we engaged in meaningful discussions on the importance of strengthening collaboration between ophthalmologists, healthcare providers, policymakers, and public health advocates to promote early detection, improve access to specialist eye care, and ultimately protect the sight and quality of life of people living with diabetes. We extend our sincere gratitude to our distinguished guests for visiting Mpudulle Eye Centre and for sharing their expertise and passion for improving eye health globally. Together, we are strengthening partnerships, advancing innovation, and creating a future where quality eye care is accessible to all.
