WE’RE HIRING | Support Services Manager

Sungardens Palliative Care is looking for an experienced Support Services Manager to lead and oversee the operational services that help keep our organisation safe, clean, efficient and well maintained.

The successful candidate will oversee facilities and maintenance, housekeeping, fleet and transport, gardens and grounds, security, health and safety compliance, and support staff.

Are you the right person for the role?

Applicants should have:
- A relevant degree, diploma or equivalent qualification.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar management position.
- Experience in support services, facilities or operational management.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety compliance.
- A valid South African driver’s licence and strong leadership and organisational skills.

📍 Location: Pretoria
📄 Employment: Permanent
💼 Salary: NPO market-related

A serious illness can change much more than your health.
It can change your routines, your independence, your relationships and the way you experience everyday life.

Palliative care is there to support people through those changes: helping with physical symptoms, emotional and practical challenges and supporting families along the way.

This World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, we’re joining the APCC Assoc of Palliative Care Centres “Imagine If…” campaign to help more people understand what palliative care can mean for someone living with a serious illness. 💙

Die GROOT Ontbyt

We are incredibly grateful to Tygerpoort for choosing Sungardens as the beneficiary of their annual EVA Project this October. 💙

As part of the project, the congregation is focusing on cancer awareness and supporting Sungardens by collecting items from our patient-care wishlist.

The first donations were handed over to our team, with further donations being collected at the church office throughout October before being brought to Sungardens.

These are practical items that help us meet the everyday needs of our patients and support the care we provide.

Thank you to everyone at NG Tygerpoort who is contributing, and to Tenita and Sonika for helping make this partnership possible. Your support means a great deal to Sungardens and to the people in our care.

Trudie Strydom has known Sungardens since its early days.

Today, as a patient in our In-Patient Unit, she has a very different perspective on the organisation she first became involved with all those years ago.

Our Day Care is about having a safe place to spend the day, stay active and remain connected.

Sungardens Day Care provides a safe and welcoming environment for patients who need support and supervision during the day, but do not require full-time care.

Patients can take part in activities, spend time with others, enjoy meals and refreshments, and receive support from our care team throughout the day.

It also gives families and caregivers some time to work, rest or attend to other responsibilities, knowing that their loved one is safe and supported.

It’s care that supports both the patient and the people who care for them.

Grief can be difficult to navigate, and sometimes it helps to have a space where you can talk, reflect and simply be with others who understand.

Sungardens Palliative Care will be hosting a Bereavement Support Session on 3 October 2026, offering an opportunity for reflection, support and connection.

The session is free to attend and open to everyone. Tea and lunch will also be provided.
