The first six weeks after amputation are demanding.
Knowing what may change helps.

Early recovery can include wound healing, swelling, fatigue, mobility training and frequent changes in how the residual limb feels.

In practice, it helps to follow the wound-care instructions from your clinical team.

It also helps to track swelling, skin changes and pain and accept help without giving up every task you can safely do.

Progress may look uneven, and a difficult day does not mean recovery has gone backwards.

These are small decisions, but they can protect comfort, confidence and independence 🤝
