Earlier this year I had the honour of supporting this incredible mother as she welcomed her baby into the world. It was also my first time working with Midwives Exclusive, and the unit has such a calm and comforting atmosphere. It truly is a beautiful environment where natural birth is supported and respected. 🤍

She laboured with courage and strength and experienced a beautiful natural birth. Being present as her doula was already such a privilege, but I was also able to capture a few special moments through my lens. 📸

Congratulations again, and thank you for allowing me to be part of such a sacred moment. Birth always reminds me how wonderfully God designed the process of labor and the strength and fire women carry within. 💕

A little glimpse into a recent prenatal visit 🤍

There’s something special about sitting with an expecting mom in her own home, talking through labour, easing fears, and preparing her heart and space for birth. 💕During this visit, we explored the stages of labour, natural pain-relief methods, birth positions, acupressure, the TENS machine, rebozo work and aromatherapy. We also created her birth plan and went through her hospital bag together - all with the intention of helping her feel supported, grounded, and confident for the day her little one arrives. 🌿🏥 And as a small gesture of love, I gifted her a little box for her baby - a gentle reminder that she’s never walking this journey alone. 🎁✨

4 x practices I reject as a Christian doula💖👇🏻

1) Hypnobirthing 🧠
A popular method that uses deep relaxation, visualization, and self-hypnosis to control pain and “train the subconscious mind” for birth. While relaxation and breathing are beautiful tools, the spiritual roots of hypnobirthing often involve altered states of consciousness, self-hypnosis, or affirmations that place ultimate trust in the mind or self instead of in God’s presence and design. I teach peace through prayer and Scripture, not hypnosis or mind control. My calm comes from trusting God, not my subconscious.

2) Crystal Grids / Birth Altars 💎
Setting up intentional crystal or object arrangements for spiritual power. I believe peace and strength come from prayer, not objects. I don’t charge crystals. I pray over moms and babies.

3) Astrology Rituals / Moon Cycle Rituals 💫
Many New Age doulas align births, fertility, or ceremonies with moon phases or zodiac energy. I don’t follow moon signs or birth charts. I believe the Creator of the moon holds our times and seasons.

4) Chakra Balancing / Reiki Healing 🧘🏼‍♀️
Practices that claim to open or realign energy centers in the body. These come from spiritual systems that don’t align with biblical teaching. I don’t channel energy. I trust the healing power of God alone.

An en caul (baby still in the amniotic sac) natural birth at 32 weeks gestation! Nothing short of a miracle! 🥺✨

On the 26th of March, Gabriella's membranes ruptured at 31 weeks and 4 days gestation. She was admitted to hospital and closely monitored. On the 29th of March, due to too much fluid loss, her Doctor and herself decided it would be safest to administer a foley bulb induction at around 11am and give her chance to still deliver naturally. I then headed to the hospital around 1pm and arrived at around 3pm where she was about 2cm dilated.

With the help of aromatherapy, acupressure, visualisations, hip squeezes (an all time favorite) changing sides, hot-compressions and a whole lot of faith in Jesus Christ, all looked well and good. At around 5:30pm her Doctor checked again and she was about 3cm dilated and administered another round of induction. In a matter of 30min Gabriella went from 3-10cm dilation, as precious little Alistair was born at around 6pm, naturally and still in his sac weighing 1.8kg! This momma was DETERMINED to bring her baby earth-side naturally, and with her husband and Doctor's full support it was TRULY a miracle hearing Alistair cry his first cry while still inside the sac after delivery (the sac was half empty due to rupture) while still being attached to his momma via the umbilical cord. 😱🙌🏻 After delayed cord clamping and skin to skin, with lungs of iron working well he was safely taken up to NICU. With a road of healing and well recovery still ahead, this mom and dad absolutely stunned me with their REMARKLE faith & determination.

Welcome earth-side strong little Alistair, meaning “protector of men, defender of mankind, rescuer, slayer of man, avenger, protector, brave” ⚔️🔥

When God sends a little hint before time on how a birth is going to turn out. 🥺🥰 My pink sneakers (which I ALWAYS wear with my pink scrubs) were dirty and I had no other choice but to wear blue sneakers. Little did we know precious little Lara was going to make her arrival via a Cesearean and my blue sneakers were going to match the blue theater scrubs!

On the 21st of March around 12am Jessica started having contractions and headed to the hospital with her hubby at around 3am. Around 6am I headed through as it was confirmed that she was 2cm dilated. After about 8 hours of labor and quite intense contractions and a continuous burning sensation on her previous Cesarean scar, she decided to rather deliver via Ceserean, in case of rupture.

With her hubby, doula & doctor right by her side, uprooting and supporting her 100%! 💖🤗 She was about 7/8cm by then and I cannot tell you the amount of respect and honour I have for her, as she trusted her gut instincts and put her wishes for a VBAC birth aside, and put the health of her baby as top priority. We as doulas are not there to try and convince a laboring woman on how to give birth, but rather to encourage, empower and support the ideal birth that she has peace in her heart with.

Welcome earth side precious Lara, meaning “God is gracious, crowned with honour, castle / beautiful, victorious, pure, bright, clear and grateful!” 👑✨

What an incredible honour it was to support this beautiful family and to be able to capture these precious moments. 😍📸 I ABSOLUTELY love what I do! Thanks you Jesus for a safe and healthy delivery, we give you all the honour! 🙏🏻✨
