On the 24th of April, I met with one of my clients for her second session. After how emotional the first session had been, I had already prepared tissues and water, expecting another difficult meeting.
During the first session, the client was carrying the weight of extremely stressful life situations — grief from a death in the family, strain in her marriage, challenges in her relationship with her children, and overwhelming pressure from work demands. It was not an easy session. I had to draw on every bit of my professional training, my experience, and the skills I have developed over the years. And yes, before every first session, I pray for my clients.
When this particular client walked into my office for the second session, she seemed like a completely different person.
In this profession, we witness many changes — some for the better, some for the worse — and it is our responsibility to look beyond appearances and continue assessing carefully. But this time, everything about her had changed: her aura, her smile, her presence. There was a peace about her that had not been there before.
She shared how even her husband had noticed the difference at home. Their conversations had improved, and she was no longer snapping at the children.
Then she asked me something that touched me deeply:
"Ma’am, what did you do to me in our first session? Because the weight on my shoulders is gone. I can sleep longer now..."
At that moment, I wanted to jump from behind my desk and hug her — but of course, professional boundaries remain important.
When it came time to write my report, I ran out of words. My heart was simply full of gratitude.
Lord, thank You.
Another case closed. Another family restored.
This is more than my profession.
This is my calling.
This is my ministry.
This is my business
