💦 Swimming is fun — but remember your little one’s skin!

Did you know that chlorine and other pool chemicals can dry out or irritate a child’s skin, especially if they have eczema or sensitive skin?

🩺 After swimming, remember these three simple steps:

💧 Rinse with fresh, lukewarm water.
🧺 Gently pat the skin dry.
🧴 Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser while the skin is still slightly damp.

If your child’s skin irritation persists or their eczema worsens, consult your healthcare professional.

A little after-swim care can help keep your little swimmer’s skin comfortable! 🌿

Save this tip for your next pool day.

Toddlers are just tiny CEOs with absolutely no management skills. 😂 One minute they’re demanding snacks, the next they’re crying because you gave them the snacks they specifically asked for. Welcome to the board meeting. 🫠😂🍌

📱 ADHD & screen use — what’s the connection?

One of the questions parents often ask is whether screens cause ADHD. The answer is no. ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition and is not caused by screen exposure or parenting.

However, children with ADHD may be particularly drawn to highly stimulating digital content, and excessive or poorly timed screen use can affect sleep, routines, physical activity, attention and emotional regulation.

This is why it’s important to look at the whole child, rather than focusing on screen time alone. If you’re noticing ongoing difficulties with attention, impulsivity or behaviour, speak to your paediatrician for a broader assessment.

💚 The goal isn’t necessarily no screens — it’s healthy balance, predictable routines and support that meets your child’s individual needs.

🤧 When is a cough NOT just a cough?

Coughing is very common in young children, especially during cold and flu season. Most coughs are caused by viral infections and improve with time.

But sometimes, a cough needs a closer look. 🚩

Speak to your doctor or paediatrician if your child has:
• Fast, difficult or laboured breathing
• Persistent or worsening fever
• Poor feeding or reduced fluid intake
• Signs of dehydration
• Unusual sleepiness or reduced responsiveness
• A cough that is worsening, persistent or repeatedly returning

💚 Trust your instincts. If your child seems significantly more unwell than they normally would, it is worth getting them assessed.

📌 Save this post for when you need it, and share it with another parent.

Is your little one suddenly waking more at night? You’re not alone. 🤍

Sleep changes are a normal part of childhood development, and periods of disrupted sleep can leave both little ones and parents feeling exhausted.

From the newborn days to the toddler years, sleep needs and patterns continue to change as your child grows.

✨ Remember:
• Every child is different
• Sleep patterns can change during developmental stages
• Consistent routines can help
• Be patient with yourself — difficult phases don’t last forever

If you’re concerned about your child’s sleep, frequent waking, snoring, breathing, or daytime behaviour, chat to your paediatrician for personalised advice. 🧸💚

Save this post for those “Is this normal?” nights and share it with another tired parent. 🤍

Parenting this week:

“Maybe we’ll have a calm, organised week.”

😂😂😂

Five minutes later:
Someone is crying.
Someone needs a snack.
Someone has lost a shoe.
And somehow… I’m the problem. 🫠

Cheers to all the parents surviving the week one snack, tantrum and coffee at a time. ☕😂

Eye contact looks different for every child — and that’s okay. 💚

For autistic children, eye contact should never be forced or treated as a measure of connection, communication or affection. Instead, focus on creating comfortable, playful opportunities for shared attention and connection. 🌿

✨ Get down to their level
✨ Join in with their favourite activities
✨ Pause and give them time to respond
✨ Keep interactions short and positive
✨ Follow their cues
✨ Never hold or force their face toward you

Connection comes first. Communication can look different for every child. ❤️

If you have concerns about your child’s communication or development, speak to your paediatrician for personalised guidance.

What works best for your little one when you’re trying to connect? 👇

Sunday night house status:
Somewhere between “we had a lovely family weekend” and “WHO LIVED HERE?! 😂”

The laundry has multiplied, the dishes are judging me, and there’s a suspicious amount of crumbs everywhere. 🫠

Parents… tell me I’m not alone? 😂
