Last week in the bush,
I ran a bubble bath and sat in the quiet.

No agenda. No to-do list. Just this.
Practicing to PAUSE — because I cannot pour from an empty cup, and neither can you. 💜

Can I be honest with you for a moment?

The transition I've been sharing about — moving more fully into the health coaching space, allowing a more authentic version of myself to lead — it wasn't comfortable.

It was disorienting.

For quite a while I felt pulled between two versions of myself. The experienced, registered dietitian I had been for nearly three decades. And this newer, quieter, gentler self who was asking to step forward and stay.

I kept trying to make them fit together neatly. And for a long time, they didn't. That didn't sit well with me.

The closest I can come to describing it is this:
It felt like being in a birth canal. Uncomfortable. Disorienting. No room to turn back. And yet — somewhere ahead, something new was waiting.

You don't choose that feeling. You just move through it. One small, faithful step at a time.

I'm sharing this because I think some of you are in a canal of your own right now.

Not with a career transition necessarily — but with your health. Your energy. Your sense of self. That feeling of I can't keep going the way I was, but I don't quite know yet who I'm becoming.

That space is hard. And it is also, I promise you, the beginning of something real.

You don't have to have it figured out to move forward. 🌱

I recently changed my brand colours.

My old palette – a strong yellow, a deep navy, earthy supporting tones – I genuinely loved them. The yellow has always been about joy and encouragement.
That is simply who I am. The dark blue was about standing my ground, being credible, being seen as the professional I worked hard to become.

Those colours weren't wrong. They were right – for that chapter.

But as I got clearer about the women I am here to serve – midlife women who are tired, exhausted, quietly overwhelmed, needing warmth more than they need information – I started to feel it. My old palette was a little too bright for where she is. Too vibrant for a woman who is running on empty.

So I started building a mood-board. I wasn't thinking analytically. I was feeling my way through it.

And what came out surprised me.

A deeper amber. A warm orange. And then – a deep, unexpected pink. I didn't plan for that. But the moment I saw them together, something in my gut said: this is it.

These colours are still warm and encouraging and alive. They're not subdued. But there's something in them that says: come as you are. There's space here. You can breathe.

That's what I want my practice to feel like.

These colours didn't just change my brand. They revealed who I was already becoming. 🌷

A dietitian by profession. A coach by passion.

I said this in an intro post last year — and it was true — still is. But I didn't fully understand yet what it meant for how I show up.

Something shifted this year. Gradually, quietly — the way most real things change.

As I moved through my Health Coaching diploma, something in me started to wake up. Not a new skill exactly — more like a recognition. I became aware of my ability to hold space. To sit with a woman who has been carrying so much, for so long, and simply be present with her. Not rushing to fix. Not leading with the clinical answer. Just being there — fully, gently, without agenda.

And then, slowly, I stopped leaving that part of me at the door of my practice.

The gentle self I bring to my community, to the people I love, to the quiet moments — I let her stay. In my sessions. In how I speak. In how I listen.

I am still a dietitian. I still have 28 years of knowledge and evidence behind every conversation. But I am also — finally, fully — the health coach I was always becoming.

I don't think I'm alone in this. That slow process of allowing your more authentic self to step forward and remain — it takes courage. And time. And grace.

If you're in the middle of your own becoming, I see you.
It's not falling apart. It's falling into place. 🌾

The difference... 🙌

Want to know how a 61 year-old gentleman lost 130 pounds? And kept it off! 😮

In our latest episode of HCA Talks Health, Zena Le Roux sits down with Fred Ford, a motivational speaker and author of the international bestseller Think and Grow Thin.

After struggling with his weight for three decades and reaching a peak of 350.2 pounds, Fred underwent a life-altering transformation at age 61. He shares how health coaches can help their clients move beyond the "weight loss rollercoaster" by facilitating a fundamental shift in identity rather than just focusing on restrictive behaviours. 💪 By applying proven success principles to health (ultimately losing 130 pounds without the use of drugs or surgery) Fred provides a ground-breaking roadmap for coaches to help their clients achieve lasting resilience and transformation from the inside out.

🎧 Tune in to discover:
- The predictable pattern of temporary weight loss and gain
- Why identifying as a "one percenter" from day one is the key to permanent success
- The power of visualisation, using mental imagery to "think and grow thin"
- Looking at daily habits for health resilience and goal achievement
- Navigating the daily temptation to quit and the importance of recommitting to your goals every single morning
- Fred's three-step strategy for goal achievement

Final reflections on 2025....

What are you grateful for?

Whatever colourful description you might have for the year,
may you let go and breathe out and release all the hardships and challenges of the past year
and may you be reminded of all that you can be thankful for!

And then,
be thankful and practice gratitude...
for the promise of the new year and all it's potential.
