SOFT MEDICAL INCARCERATION 🙆♀️🥺
A type of incarceration that has no prison bars.
Your illness, exhaustion, finances and physical limitations slowly begin determining where you go, who you see, what you can do and how much of life you can participate in then world becomes smaller and mentally and emotionally, that can be incredibly difficult.
You watch people continue living while you are learning how to live within a body and reality that have changed ,You may withdraw not because you don't love people, but because you simply don't have the capacity or energy function
And sometimes the hardest part is realising that care and presence are not the same thing.
A phone call can show care.
A WhatsApp can show concern.
But sometimes you need someone to physically come and sit beside you and remind you of the power & importance of connection 🤗
Soft medical incarceration is invisible to most people except the person living it knows exactly how confining it can feel and they are mostly labeled difficult especially loved ones who battle Chronic/Autoimmune conditions/Mental Health challenges and spiritual awakening
The journey back to freedom is not only physical 💞 It is mental, emotional, spiritual and social too
