Are you wondering how to stimulate your child’s language development? Try using everyday routines and activities. A routine is something that stays pretty much the same each time you do it.

These could be:
- People games
- Songs and rhymes
- Daily activities like bathing or bed-time

Ways you can keep routines in interaction the same:
- Start the same way each time.
- Plan your child’s turn.
- Repeat the same words, sounds or actions.
- Keep the end of the routine the same.

WHY WE WAIT:
Your child has to understand everyday vocabulary in order to use them themselves. Giving them 3-5 seconds of wait time allows them time to process and understand the vocabulary and once they’ve had this time they can respond. It can be hard for us to stop talking and just listen to our little ones, but it is SO important that we do.
