What an incredible experience it was to spend time with the National Prosecuting Authority South Africa team discussing trauma-informed care for children. Working with professionals who deal with some of the most difficult and heartbreaking cases every day is both inspiring and humbling.

During our session we also spoke about something that often stays in the background — secondary trauma. When you work with traumatic stories and experiences on a daily basis, it can quietly take a toll. It reminded us how important it is that the people who care for others also care for themselves.

Looking after our own emotional wellbeing, creating space to debrief, supporting colleagues, and allowing ourselves time to rest and reset are not luxuries — they are essential. When we take care of ourselves, we protect our ability to keep showing up with compassion, patience, and strength for the children and families who need us most.

Thank you to Matla A Bana for including me in such a meaningful and important project. It was truly special to be part of this conversation and to learn alongside such dedicated professionals. 💛

💙 Beautiful example of co-parenting done right.

This framed set of Family Promises is such a powerful way to help children feel safe, loved, and free from conflict during times of family change.

When parents consciously choose respect, empathy, and kindness — even in difficult circumstances — children learn that love doesn’t have to be divided.

These promises remind us that:
✨ Children should never be messengers or mediators.
✨ Both parents remain sources of love and safety.
✨ Respecting the other parent protects a child’s emotional wellbeing.

This is how we break cycles of parental alienation — with commitment, integrity, and heart. ❤️

A powerful report by the Children’s Commissioner for England reveals a disturbing link between violent po*******hy and harmful s*xual behaviour among children.

📊 Key findings from the review of over 500 official documents (including police transcripts and forensic interviews):
• In 51% of cases where one child s*xually harmed another, the abuse involved acts commonly seen in violent po*******hy — including choking, slapping, and strangulation.
• In some cases, children explicitly described copying po*******hy they had seen online.
• A manual review of 32 police interviews showed both the actor and professionals drawing direct links between po*******hy and s*xual harm.
• Many children reported feeling as though they had been “treated like a p**n star,” showing how online content distorts understanding of consent and intimacy.
• Children described feeling pressured to perform acts they had seen online — acts that caused pain, fear, or humiliation.
• 27% of children reported first seeing po*******hy by age 11.
• 10% had seen it by age 9.

Let that sink in.

Children are accessing content that is degrading, violent, and completely disconnected from healthy, respectful relationships—and they’re re-enacting it, sometimes without fully understanding the harm they’re causing.

This is not about blaming children.
This is about how unregulated digital spaces are failing them.

👣 What can we do?

✅ Push for age-verification laws and online safety legislation.
✅ Equip children with real, age-appropriate s*x education that includes media literacy.
✅ Train professionals to recognise how po*******hy exposure can show up in clinical, forensic, and school settings.
✅ Create space for children to talk about what they’ve seen, without shame, and with support.

🛑 There is No Such Thing as ‘Child Pornography’.

Let’s be clear:
📸 These are crime scene images.
👧🏽 These are children who are being abused.
📂 These are not p**nographic, not fantasy, and not consensual.

Using terms like “child p**n” minimizes the harm and normalizes abuse.
Let’s change the language — and change the conversation.

Join the movement to say: as “child po*******hy.”

🚨 CHILDREN EXPOSED ONLINE — HIGH COURT ORDERS META TO SHUT DOWN EXPLICIT ACCOUNTS. META FAILS TO ACT. 🚨

Late Monday evening, the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg issued an urgent court order compelling Meta (the parent company of Instagram and WhatsApp) to shut down several anonymous accounts and channels that were distributing graphic child po*******hy involving South African school children — some as young as primary school age.

The court also ordered Meta to hand over the details of the perpetrators behind these platforms by Tuesday at noon — but by early Tuesday afternoon, Meta had not complied with any of the deadlines.

📌 The accounts were not just sharing illegal explicit content, but also publishing:
• Children’s names, grades, and schools
• Cruel and false claims about their s*xual behaviour
• Even claims about their HIV status

This horrifying situation came to light when The Digital Law Company (DLC), led by social media law expert Emma Sadleir Berkowitz, received reports from victims and schools in Pretoria and Centurion about disturbing content being shared on Instagram and WhatsApp “community channels”.

🧑‍⚖️ In her affidavit, Sadleir described the accounts as:

“A mass distribution system for p**nographic and defamatory content involving minors… shared anonymously with large, unknown audiences.”

🚨 One WhatsApp channel had over 11,000 followers and was actively threatening to publish more explicit material and private information about children at 8PM Monday.
With no time to spare, DLC went to court on an urgent basis — the matter was unopposed, and the court ruled decisively in their favour.

Yet, Meta has still not removed the channels or shared the identities of the criminals behind them.

🔴 According to Sadleir, girls depicted in these images are now on su***de watch.
The longer the content remains online, the more irreparable harm is done.

📢 Why this matters:
• These children are being traumatised, humiliated, and endangered
• The content is being shared rapidly, with new accounts popping up after deletions
• Legal action can only proceed if the perpetrator is identified — and that depends on Meta’s cooperation

This is not just about platform policy — it’s about criminal accountability and child protection

✅ What you can do:
• Follow for updates and resources
• Report any harmful content to SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) units
• Speak to children about digital safety and reporting online abuse
• Demand accountability from big tech when it comes to protecting vulnerable users

📣 Children’s lives and mental health are at stake. Justice delayed is justice denied.
