TTP is heading to Nairobi, Kenya in 2027!

We’re beyond excited to announce that The Together Project’s Community Mental Health Initiative has been selected for the GMHAC 2027 Innovation Fair, taking place from 8–10 February 2027 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Organised by the Mental Health Innovation Network (MHIN), with support from Wellcome, the Innovation Fair forms part of the Global Mental Health African Conference (GMHAC 2027), in partnership with the Science for Africa Foundation.

This opportunity will allow us to showcase our community-based approach to mental health support, highlighting how creative expression, connection, and community engagement can help make mental health support more accessible and challenge stigma.

Being selected for the Innovation Fair is an important milestone for us. We look forward to connecting with mental health advocates, researchers, policymakers, funders, frontline workers, and fellow innovators from across Africa and beyond, sharing ideas and learning from others working to strengthen mental health support.

We’re proud to see our work contributing to conversations about the future of community mental health in Africa and look forward to representing our initiative in Nairobi! 🇿🇦🤝🇰🇪

Change. Connection. Community.

World Mental Health Day | 10 October

Mental health is personal. And the people who live these experiences every day have something important to say.

This year’s World Mental Health Day theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change,” reminds us that listening is only the beginning. People with lived experience should have a meaningful role in shaping the conversations, services and communities that affect their mental health.

At The Together Project, we believe that mental health support should create space for people to express themselves, be heard, connect with others and participate in their communities.

Sometimes that expression happens through conversation. Sometimes through creativity. Sometimes through simply having a safe space to be yourself.

This World Mental Health Day, let's move beyond simply talking about mental health. Let's listen to the people experiencing it. Let's value their voices. And let's turn those voices into meaningful change đź’› Because mental health support should be built with people, not simply for them.

🗣️ Live speaking slot: 10 minutes
⏰ Time: 4:58–5:08 PM GMT
🌍 In honour of World Mental Health Day - 10 October

We’re excited to share The Together Project’s approach to community mental health, creative expression and reducing mental health stigma, and to contribute to conversations about creating more accessible and inclusive mental health support.

What does it mean to volunteer with The Together Project?

“Being part of TTP has been such a rewarding experience for me. I’ve gained so much confidence and experience in working with young people, while also learning how powerful creativity and simply having a safe space to talk can be.”

Our volunteers are an important part of the communities we work alongside. Through art-based support, creative expression, and meaningful connection, volunteers help create spaces where young people can feel heard, supported and empowered.

Volunteering with TTP isn't just about giving your time, it’s also an opportunity to learn, grow, connect with others, and contribute to community mental health support.

Thank you to all our incredible volunteers for helping us create change through connection and community 🌱🎨

The Together Project is heading to the Pan-African Mental Health Conversation!

We’re excited to share that our presentation, “Art as an Open Door — A Community Mental Health Initiative That Bypasses Stigma Through Creative Expression,” has been selected for a 10-minute live speaking slot at the Pan-African Mental Health Conversation, hosted by the Pan African Mental Health Organisation.

With this year’s theme, “Building Africa’s Mental Health Future,” we’re looking forward to sharing how creative expression can be used to support community mental health, connection, and conversations around mental well-being, while helping to create more accessible approaches to mental health support across communities.

🗣️ Live presentation: 10 minutes
🕓 Time: 4:58–5:08 PM GMT

We’re incredibly excited to contribute to a conversation focused on building Africa’s mental health future and to share The Together Project’s community-based approach with a wider African and international audience.

Art can be an open door. Let’s keep opening it 🎨💛

When someone we care about is hurting, we can feel an enormous pressure to find the right thing to say.

But you don't have to have the perfect answer. You don't have to make their pain disappear. And you don't have to carry the situation on your own.

Sometimes helping looks like listening without judgement, taking someone seriously, staying connected and helping them find the right support.

And if you're worried that someone may be at immediate risk, involve professional or emergency support rather than trying to manage it alone.

At The Together Project, we believe that connection matters. Creating spaces where people can express themselves, feel heard and know that they are not alone is part of building stronger, more supportive communities.

This Su***de Prevention Month, let's remember: You don't have to fix someone to help them. You just have to be willing to stay đź’›

Not everyone who is struggling knows how to ask for help.

Sometimes it starts with a small change in someone's behaviour. A little more quiet. A cancelled plan. A “I'm fine” that doesn't quite sound like them.

We don't need to diagnose, fix or have all the answers.

We can notice.
We can check in.
We can listen.
We can make it easier for someone to talk.

Su***de prevention isn't only about what happens in a crisis. It is also about the relationships and communities we build before someone reaches that point.

This Su***de Prevention Month, let's make asking “How are you?” mean more than a quick question.

Start the conversation đź’›

We can't always take someone's pain away. And we don't have to.

When someone is struggling, being present can matter more than having the perfect advice.

Listen.
Take them seriously.
Stay connected.
Help them find the right support.

And remember: you don't have to carry the responsibility alone. If someone is at immediate risk, involve appropriate professional or emergency support.

At The Together Project, we believe in the power of connection - creating spaces where people can express themselves, feel heard and know that they don't have to navigate difficult experiences completely alone.

Connection matters. đź’›

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day đź’›

Su***de can be difficult to talk about. But avoiding the conversation doesn’t make the pain disappear.

Sometimes prevention starts with something as simple as asking, “Are you really okay?” and being willing to listen to the answer.

You don’t need to have the perfect words. You don’t need to fix everything. You can listen without judgement, take someone seriously, stay connected and help them find the support they need.

Because sometimes, knowing that someone sees you, hears you and is willing to stay can make a difference.

This World Su***de Prevention Day, let’s make difficult conversations a little less difficult.

Start the conversation. Stay connected đź’›

The artwork might only take an hour to make.

But what someone learns, feels or discovers during that time can stay with them long after the paint has dried.

Our art-based support groups create opportunities for people to explore emotions, learn about mental health, develop coping skills and experience connection within a supportive community.

The art is important.

But it’s not the whole story 🎨

It’s what the creative process can open up that matters.
