Today I was busy creating AAC overlays and adapted learning materials for my learners with Profound Intellectual Disability (PID).

As a Speech Therapist and Audiologist in Education, I believe communication should never be an afterthought. It is so important that the content programmed into communication devices aligns with the school term’s theme and topics, so our learners can meaningfully participate in class activities.

It is never to early to start reading to a baby. Reading promotes language development, builds vocabulary, enhances concentration and it stimulates their senses. Read and sing regularly, they will thank you later.

At this stage, you don't tell them that they are pronouncing a word "wrong", you just keep modeling the correct word until they pick it up themselves and try to learn it.
Here we were learning names of our family members but decided to throw in a new word "teacher".
